@LozzaFox Please, Laurence: go and enlist in the Russian army. They take rapists and serial killers, so they'd *probably* take you.
Seriously, you fighting for Russia on the Ukrainian front line would be the funniest twelve-and-a-half minutes of my entire life! ๐

2) In recent years, only a handful have survived. In 2024, scientists estimated just six to eight individuals remained.
The 2025 census showed a slight possible increase to seven to ten. While still critically low, this small rise offers cautious hope. Among those sighted was a mother, Frida, with her one-year-old calf. Frida also appeared to be pregnant again.

Wildlife needs full protection against clueless proposals like this! Where is nature supposed to go?
A rare sign of hope for the world's most endangered marine mammal is now overshadowed by a proposal that could push the species even further toward extinction.
The latest census spotted a calf and a pregnant female vaquita, yet the Mexican government is outrageously proposing to shrink the species' protected area.
This dangerous plan must be abandoned.
The vaquita is a small porpoise found only in the northern Gulf of California in Mexico.
Their population has been devastated by gill nets used to catch shrimp and totoaba. Vaquitas become entangled in these nets and drown.

Postliberal activists, from JD Vance to Patrick Deneen to the most obscure postliberal substacks, often speak as if they have exposed some deep internal contradiction of free market capitalism. It's presented as a fact that somehow makes postliberalism inevitable.
And yet there's no credible evidence of this purported exposition anywhere. There are no economists of any note who find postliberal economic doctrine convincing. There are no books that make this case beyond the postliberal echo chamber (and those that claim to do so, e.g. Deneen's Why Liberalism Failed and Pilkington's Collapse of Global Liberalism, are so comically amateur and incoherent that they even make Marxist economic tracts look intelligible by comparison). Most Postliberal theorists in the academy are either eccentric oddballs who only attract notice as provocateurs, or complete mediocrities with no scholarly records of note. And the samples of writing that they offer in support of their purported exposition of capitalism are often little more than declamatory blog posts and haughty speeches that assume their own conclusions in their premises.
Usually if you make a bold and sweeping claim about the alleged failure and upheaval of the entire world's economic order, you also carry the burden of providing some evidence. Yet I know of no Postliberal who has met that obligation in any way that is remotely convincing outside of those who are already True Believers of their own cause.

Another Fed paper finds Americans paid almost all Trump's 2025 tariffs ("pass-through of realized tariffs into import prices was close to one hundred percent"), AND that local labor market effects were "economically negligible."
All pain, no gain. richmondfed.org/publications/rโฆ

"You will not reckon with the post-liberal era by defunding right-wing academic conferences."
True. Also true: Academics and commentators of any political persuasion who earn their living from corrupt foreign governments are always going to be greeted with hoots of derision.

Friendly advice, when a person has moved your direction on an issue and you still malign them for celebrating dead children (?) because they are experiencing a moment of joyโฆthat does not tend attract people to a cause. One manโs opinion.

It's a matter of record that Iran hired criminals to attack Jews in Australia. It's not fanciful to suspect the same thing is happening here
