@S54851331Smith We are the only canonical Orthodox Church probably for two hours in any direction. There is a schismatic Ukrainian Church in Mt. Home as well, but I wouldn't go there personally.

I think the parish hall is actually bigger than the church now. Not necessarily a bad thing 🙂 As the church grows it shall expand. Sadly construction will not be completed in time for Pascha. Our contractor got extremely ill from a tick bite so please pray for him.

I guess it's set in stone enough that I can officially say: I am going to Mount Athos in less than a month. By God's mercy this opportunity has fallen into my lap, right around the 10 year anniversary of me being Orthodox. Over three weeks I'll be on Athos, in Thessaloniki, in Athens... ...and then the part Im most excited about, Ill be in Belgrade, Serbia for three days visiting Elder Thaddeus' monastery 🙏🔥💜☦️

This has been consuming a great deal of my Free time after work. It will be varnished and finished by holy Friday. It's 2 ft tall and 22 in wide. I've never painted anything this big. I've also never painted with acrylics so I learned a lot along the way, little lessons and skills that I hope will transfer when I pivot towards iconography later this year

Even in more modern times saints such as Gabriel of Georgia burned a giant banner of Stalin in the middle of a Soviet parade. You love the person, for they are created in the image and likeness of God, but you hate whatever soils that likeness and fight against it everyday.
