Am yet to watch that overrated Polygamist on Netflix. Maybe a 72-inch Samsung will help me see the plot.

Before the skyscrapers, before the traffic, before the fame, there was Eko. A land of lagoons, fishermen, and Awori settlers who built the first communities on the islands centuries ago. Then came the influence of the mighty Benin Kingdom, shaping leadership, culture, and royal traditions that still echo through Lagos today. When Portuguese explorers arrived in 1472, they saw endless waterways and named the land ‘Lagos’ the City of Lakes. What began as a fishing settlement soon became one of West Africa’s greatest trading centers, attracting merchants, dreamers, and builders from far and wide. During British rule, a vast stretch of swampland was named Victoria Island after Queen Victoria. Few could imagine that those marshes would one day become the financial heart of modern Nigeria. But Lagos was never built by one ruler, one government, or one generation. It was built by the hands of fishermen, traders, laborers, engineers, entrepreneurs, and millions of ordinary people who refused to stop dreaming. Today, Lagos stands as Africa’s city of ambition, a place where history meets innovation, and where every bridge, market, and skyline tells a story of resilience. From Eko to a global megacity, Lagos remains proof that great cities are not born; they are built by the spirit of their people. Eko o ni baje. The story continues.
