If this was a contest to decide who was most underwhelmed by these men, I really would find it hard to call. I think I’m saying double-flute-player, because I spend some of every day with that facial expression. The Met Museum.

England playing Afghanistan heralds a day of unmitigated shame. For all the Taliban’s obscene misogyny, cricket’s male-dominated governing bodies lack the gumption to refuse to play. My piece telegraph.co.uk/cricket/2025/0…

🚨The Million Women March in London is really gaining traction—as are the regional ones across the country. While I might have been gobby enough to get the ball rolling, it’s now being run and organised by a growing team of some of the most incredible women I’ve ever had the pleasure to know. The time, effort, and passion they’re putting into making this happen on 17th Feb has absolutely taken my breath away. If it had just been left to me, it simply wouldn’t be happening. These women come from all walks of life, representing a myriad of political backgrounds, and they’re working together—no egos, no agendas—just one shared goal: to make this march happen. I need to make it clear: this isn’t about me, it’s about thousands of women who care about thousands of children. It’s for children who have survived abuse, boys and girls now grown, and for children currently suffering. It’s about changing things for them and stopping as many future cases of abuse as possible. This isn’t my march—it’s your march, for children. So, I just want to say thank you. Let’s keep pulling together in London and all over the country to make this happen. xx

During the apartheid regime in South Africa the world responded to human rights abuses with sanctions and a sports boycott. Today, the world is silent over Afghanistan. The Afghan men’s coach, Jonathan Trott (born in South Africa but played cricket for England), was recently asked which was the best team in the Asia Cup. He proudly patted the badge on his shirt – Afghanistan. Pride in representing a country that has inflicted the most extreme human rights abuses on its female citizens is not the win @Trotty might think it is. The England men’s cricket team is drawn to play Afghanistan on 26th February 2025 in the ICC Champions Trophy. Women’s Rights Network calls for England to forfeit the match. In fact, we call on our politicians and sports governing bodies to go further. We call for: · @Keir_Starmer to order a boycott of all Afghanistan fixtures in any sport. · The @ECB_cricket to forfeit all matches against the Afghanistan men’s cricket team in any tournament. · Players and coaches to examine their consciences – the women in your families are free to dress how they please, be educated, take jobs, travel, have bank accounts, speak and sing. How can you in all conscience play a country that denies women their basic human rights? Pride in the team shirt includes pride in your country’s record on standing up for human rights and against dictators who bask in the kudos of sporting success. What is happening to the women of Afghanistan is appalling. Any sportsman of conscience should do what is right: Boycott Afghanistan.

The most stirring sporting gesture of 2024 arose not in victory but defeat. ‘XX.’ If this tumultuous year teaches us anything, it is that fairness must take precedence over inclusion – every single time. Long read telegraph.co.uk/sport/2024/12/…

It's great that @wembleystadium has swapped some men's loos to women's to cater for their audience. Now, if you could kindly provide a little ladder so this pensioner doesn’t have to balance precariously on those urinal troughs again it would be most appreciated 😅 @Lionesses
