The men they find are neither hardworking, nor heroic. Though some are sweeter than others, they see in these widows a ticket into gentry and wealth. At the very least, it's a path to freedom, freedom from hunger, from uncertainty, from loneliness
Our story starts with two strange acquaintances, @hellohstrikes and @CelebSloots who bring life back into the valley by marriage.
Mr H married 42 year old widow Greta Gerwig, and through her becomes the lord of the Gerwig state. Greta is creative, thoughtful, and somewhat delicate, despite her sturdy appearance and her deep resilience. The courtship was quick, the ceremony too. With the marriage, he gains lands and holdings, she secures her now shared ownership and keeps her wealth and status. But her role in the house is about to change, and the very nature of the valley is too.
