Mike Keel, maintenance foreman at Indiana State Prison, will not survive the injuries he sustained during Monday’s assault and his family has made the generous decision to donate his organs. Mike is a 29-year employee of DOC known for his workmanship.

Two incarcerated individuals were captured after they walked away from the minimum security housing unit located on the campus of the New Castle Correctional Facility on Monday. Austin Bolton, 20, and Keegan Brooks, 19, were found about 2 hours after leaving.

UPDATE: Jessie Hanson was apprehended by law enforcement on Monday morning. Parole agents worked with the U.S. Marshals Service to locate Hanson, who walked away from the South Bend Community Re-Entry Center on Nov. 1. The prosecutor will decide if Hanson will face new charges.

A $250,000 grant from the Duke Energy Foundation will help further the work of the Hoosier Initiative for Re-Entry program (HIRE) through educational opportunities for formerly incarcerated citizens and businesses, alleviating barriers to successful employment.

A resident walked away from the South Bend Community Re-Entry Center. Jessie Hanson, 37, was working at a South Bend business, and was seen by a witness getting into a vehicle around 9:45 am Tuesday. A warrant has been issued, and law enforcement is searching for him.

Shah'heed Webster, 21, did not return to the re-entry center after work at a South Bend business around 11:40 pm Friday. A witness said they saw him getting into a vehicle. A warrant has been issued, and law enforcement is searching for Webster.

UPDATE: A missing offender was found inside Westville Correctional Facility. Dustin Lappin, 31, was found at 7:41 pm on Friday. The search began when correctional staff saw he was missing during a facility count that morning. Lappin never left the facility.

The Indiana Department of Correction i searching for an offender who was reported missing inside the Westville Correctional Facility. At this time, there is no indication that the offender has left the facility, and the search is focused inside the facility.
