For Intel Arc G-Series handhelds, having E-cores in the performance cluster provides access to shared L3 cache, which is great for games, and running them there frees up more power for the GPU to pump out frames. Intel’s Nish Neelalojanan explains:

We collaborated with @MSIGaming to rework the Claw 8 EX AI+ from the inside out for new Intel Arc G-Series processors. DRAM moves to the back of the board for better airflow, the big battery gets prime placement, and there’s still room for a user‑upgradeable SSD.

Before DRAM prices skyrocketed, we set out to enable Wildcat Lake to use more affordable memory from mobile phones. The effort paid off, providing our ecosystem partners with more choice, lower cost, and quicker time to market for Intel Core Series 3 laptops.
