He actually does. The whole movie is about him being shunned/bullied by his friends (who also bullied her) and everyone else. He grows up, develops social anxiety and wants to kill himself because he hates himself that much for the way he treated her. Only not going through with it because he wants to make it up to her, even though they were actual middle schoolers when this occurred. He learns sign language, helps her sister and practically dedicates himself to her, and the entire message is a beautiful one. That you can always atone for what you've done and anyone is capable of change and becoming a better person. How ironic that message is lost on Twitter users.

@ItsMaldrix That’s fair. And I’m not trying to be a jerk when I say this (in fact I sincerely encourage you to learn more about FGs if they interest you), but I think knowing the difference between a combo and being in blockstun is a good place to start to know what’s cheap & what isn’t

@ItsMaldrix DBFZ doesn’t have a combo breaking system. Sparking mode only happens if you’re in blockstun or combo’ing somebody. Invincible has one, so it’s even less excusable to rage quit being hit by that than it would be in DBFZ lol

@LegendsXCVII DBFZ only has the big blast thing to get out of combos which is a one time use throughout the entire match wdym

@ItsMaldrix The ‘mentality’ I’m referring to is feeling entitled to win so badly that you think you shouldn’t need to know what you’re doing to beat people who do, or hating losing so much you’re willing to ruin the other player’s experience out of spite just for playing the game better.
