My fantastic mentor and boss is the new president of @SfNtweets! And the logo for next year's meeting represents our research in neuronal aging! Yellow shows spines from a young neuron and blue from an aged one. Thin spines are the ones we lose with normal aging. #neurotwitter

New @Nature The largest study of impact of dietary restriction (DR) in ~1,000 mice with diverse genetic background for health and lifespan nature.com/articles/s4158… —40% caloric restriction had the most lifespan expansion effect but suppressed immune response and loss of lean muscle mass —a divergence of health and longevity effects of DR —"genetic background proved to be the more important factor in determining lifespan."
