3-on-3 against McDavid, MacKinnon, and Makar feels like an absolute losing proposition for 🇺🇸

Expect a lot more of this with Arthur Smith calling plays in Columbus this fall. OSU didn’t build off 12p zone schemes as much as I thought they should’ve last season, but I Smith’s hiring is a signal Ryan Day wants more of it moving forward.

Some very simple, very effective play sequencing off of wide zone by Ohio State. The key to offense is building off of things and making it all look the same. It's not just in design. It must be in personnel, formations, everything.

What makes Downs generational, though, is not that he is a freak athlete. Those are common. It's his ESP. It's his ability to know the entire route design almost instantly, and know exactly how to tailor his technique to it, even sometimes outside of his assignment.
Max Toscano@maxtoscano1

In this I described Downs as "defensive stem cells." He is a blank check written out to whatever problem you need to solve. Anarumo's chameleon system worked because Bates did that, but Downs is better. He helps with *every problem the Bengals have*

@maxtoscano1 @CoachVass That’s the thing, these things ARE connected! Saying what we think is a right worth fighting for, regardless of whether it’s about politics or football. Don’t let the lemmings win.

If you have to say, “people get killed everyday” to justify a cold-blooded murder, you are wrong. Funny how the “don’t tread one me”/2A crowd” is justifying state executions. I was against it with Trump, Biden, Obama, etc. I was pretty vocal about it. I’ve always been political, you just haven’t been paying attention. I’m anti-people getting fucking killed in the streets by anyone, let alone a secret police. I am not a traditional content creator - I don’t give a shit if people do or don’t like my stuff or hold that I’m anti killing people, against me. In fact, I embrace it. Don’t buy my stuff, don’t listen to my pods, don’t subscribe to anything, I do not care. If you or anyone else doesn’t like that, get fucked. Hope that is clear enough for everyone.
Marv Murchins@MarvMatthews

@CoachVass I like your content. But you're always political now. I can separate the two. I listen to you for football, to escape the Bullshit. People get killed everyday, but you're up in arms now because it's politicized and you hate Trump and Ice

@traceygere @maxtoscano1 @RossRFulton I’d say the major difference is the IU defender isn’t breaking on the bubble before the QB has even pulled it from the RB, as happened with OSU/UM

I think the craziest thing about this play is that Jeremiah Smith actually did his job. He got to the outside of the defender to get between him and the bubble. You block him from getting to the ballcarrier, not the BALL. Nobody just jumps a bubble like this, what a play

This is the one everyone will kick themselves on. A front/pressure Miami show dozens of times on film. 4 Down Fromm (Field Bullet) with spot drop 3D/3U FZ behind it. Post safety even bites hard on Sayins first peek keeping Klare open. But Ruben Bain is an issue. The Garland stuff gets all the coverage, but I think Hunter is also really killing the Cavs. He’s certainly being asked to play out of position, but he Is shooting 31% from 3 Low assist player Doesn’t rebound Has the lowest stocks% of his career Cavs +10.1 better with him off

@Jones @WingT_Football I also think they caught Ohio State not doing all that much. I don't think this was a playoff type gameplan on either side for them and it was for IU.

@maxtoscano1 @WingT_Football I thought OSU largely won the scheme battle in the 2nd half with some adjustments (under center & pistol run games, max protection, etc…) but obviously stumbled in the red zone. Also clear that Tate was limited and provided no deep threat.

@WingT_Football (It’s not gonna happen again if they rematch. They’ll just get Smith in the slot and space the underneath to punish the Base D)

Once they established their fastball of keeping a lid on 17 and 4, Ohio State committed to the run to punish the short box count. Indiana mixed in creative run pressures as changeups to minimize the damage and create bad down and distances in select spots

Indiana is one of the greatest stories that CFB, America's Library of Alexandria for athletic storytelling, has ever told. It's one of belief, but also elite Xs and Os. On Saturday, their D shut down an Ohio State O riddled with the NFL's future. Here's exactly how🧵🧵🧵
