I’ve just woken from a deep sleep. My usual 5am alarm was going off & as I can to I thought to myself, “The surf sounds huge.” Then I realised with a thump where I was & what I could hear was the air conditioning. Big sigh.

I'm taking a rest today to thaw out. My calfs are killing me to after climbing Big Ben Nev, apparently that's what all the real mountain climbers call it 🤣🩲. For the first time in my life my bodies feeling it's age and I'm feeling quite exhausted. 🩲 gofund.me/e6c6d6f3

I feel a lot better in myself than I did this morning. #NatureCure worked its magic once again. A steady 27km today with snowfall & easy seas. So lovely to have the light at the end of the day. Even better to have an incredible new tent. Thanks for all your words of support. 😊

A further update. I’ve found temporary warm & comfortable accommodation on the tall ship ‘The Lady of Avenel’. My good friend Stefan, owner & skipper has made her available for me. Aboard her I can rest & recover & plan my next moves. This is an incredible journey & experience.

These past few days of my illness have been a real test of my resolve, culminating tonight with my tent half collapsing on me in a storm. Sadly the broken pole has ripped the outer flysheet. This was not expected. I’ll sort this out in the daylight. 😔

Good morning folks. It’s a dreich morning. I’m in no rush. I’ve a short distance to Port Appin where I’ll meet Karen. We’ve booked a ‘bothy’ for Hogmanay, after which I’ll resume my journey. I’m pleased with my efforts since Christmas. I’ll have paddled 90km. Film from yesterday.

I’ve enjoyed a quiet day. I’ve wandered through the snowy woods & along the icy shore. Read a lot. Wrote in my journal. Drank plenty of ginger tea. Snoozed. Now cooking a pasta dinner. Solitude & simplicity. I hope you’re enjoying your weekend. 😊
