Particularly pleased with my article in this special issue as it draws from (almost exclusively) naturalistic data in the Piaroa corpus I've been creating since 2016 -- with ELDP funding and archived at @ELARarchive -- doi.org/10.1515/ling-2… #openaccess

Toronto folks: recommend an easy-to-get-to coffee shop near Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson) where I can meet a dear friend.

@lisa_b_davidson @oiwi3000 This looks excellent! I'd love a copy (looking into the realization of glottalized resonants and it was suggested to us recently that variable realization may be conditioned by prosody)

Haven't used Twitter this way in a while, but the 1st paper from my collab with @oiwi3000 on Hawaiian phonetics is out! The title says most of it: "Word-level prosodic & metrical influences on Hawaiian glottal stop realization" (Can send PDF if requested) degruyter.com/document/doi/1…

@DrLearnasaurus Well, as of yesterday, we are (in theory) homeowners so you guys can come up any time you want :) And yes, let’s definitely get together before I leave! I’ll be on campus all next week and the week after (leaving on the 26th).

@patalinguist Some of it is still recoverable on the Wayback Machine (I had to find it there last fall when I was trying to show my students some of Wally’s work on written language)

@DrLearnasaurus It just threw me off completely; the fact that they knocked on a closed door to ask that, I mean. It took me a moment to recover and I sent them to the sasc office

Now out in @LabPhon! We use an XGBoost extension of the NAF method to investigate temporal patterns of vowel nasalization in Arabana. The findings contribute to our understanding of nasality in Australian languages, but also of mechanisms of sound change. journal-labphon.org/article/id/915…
