42-year old Michael Childers of Lakeland got #ArrestedByThePolkCountySheriffsOffice on Thursday afternoon, April 3rd. A PCSO deputy was patrolling in the area of US 98 and Clubhouse Road, south of Lakeland, when he noticed a motorcycle with no tag traveling at a high speed on the Fort Fraser Trail. The motorcyclist was Childers, and he had a female passenger. The deputy stopped his car, and directed Childers to stop. Childers instead sped up, cut across three lanes of traffic, and pulled into the Circle K store parking lot. The deputy entered the parking lot and approached Childers and detained him. Childers was in possession of an axe head chained to a hand cuff, a firearm, and a handcuff key. Childers was arrested and taken to the Polk County Jail where he was charged with: fleeing with reckless disregard, display of a firearm during a felony, possession of a concealed handcuff key, and operating a vehicle that is not registered. Childers' riding buddy was identified as 40-year old Vanessa Day of Lakeland. She was arrested also and charged with possessions of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. #PCSO #PolkSheriff
