I learned the expression “widows” or “widow words” from my mother, who got her start in journalism. They’re words left alone at the top of a new page or column: “The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy [page break] dog.”

@HerInteractive @BoyCarat17 In that spirit, dividing up the subtitles into full clauses would greatly improve access for Deaf users and others who rely on them. As is, the choppy subtitles are painful to read and break up the flow of the captivating story. Full of “widow words”. It really warrants a patch.

Had the great pleasure of recommending some short stories to a teacher friend this weekend. I named some classics, and also @StephenKing ‘s “Luckey Quarter”, which I would have LOVED to study in high school. Vivid, fascinating, and so utterly relatable!
