? You're not understanding what I'm saying. I'm not denying it's the symbol they say it is. I'm saying I don't think it's weird that Platner or anyone else didn't recognize it as Nazi imagery. If you asked me to think of Nazi imagery, I'm not thinking about Platner's tattoo. And even if you specifically told me that the Nazis used a skull and crossbones on their uniform, I wouldn't be able to tell you which skull and crossbones was the Nazi one.

Seriously? No I can't fucking see the logo on his hat. It kind of looks like the space jam logo. Setting everything else aside, this idea that this skull and cross bones logo is extremely recognizable to everyone as obvious Nazi imagery is absurd.

The average height of men in NA and Europe where nearly all NHL players come from is about 5 foot 9. The average NHL player is 6 foot 1. Why do you think that is? The Democrats have lost so much ground to the Republicans since 1969, it's almost hard to believe. Only two, 2 term Presidents in nearly 60 years and any modest gains in their time in office were immediately lost in huge swings right after they left office. Dem party leaders have been failing for decades and we're supposed to be afraid that a new faction is taking charge?

Yea bud, size has no role in success at the NHL level, a hyper competitive environment where everyone kills themselves for any possible edge. 🙄 Being 5 foot 9 isn't going up stop him from succeeding in the NHL. But being one of the shortest players in the NHL is an obvious disadvantage.

Are you seriously asking if there is a substantial difference between being one of the 20 shortest players in the NHL and being on the short side of average? 90% of NHL players are between 5 foot 10 and 6 foot 3. That is a range of only 5 inches. So yes, 2 inches is a big difference.

It is unrealistic to expect the public at large to distinguish between innocent and deserving protest targets. Blanket presumption of innocence is realistic

It’s difficult to describe the impact of these scenes. They’re protesting outside the synagogue I went to as a child, the venue for my ‘Sunday school’ (Cheder), around the corner from my Jewish primary school. A place I associate with pure joy. Depressing doesn’t come close.

@LeftYimby @mindyisser I don’t know what synagogue Mindy goes to, so I can’t say what has happened to a synagogue like hers. Plenty of totally unjustified things have happened in history to synagogues, churches, and houses of worship of all types, as I’m sure you know.

@LeftYimby @mindyisser Because Mindy said her synagogue “would never” be protested like this, but that requires all protesters to be the types who check facts about a protest target and only go ahead if targets fit a specific profile. And not all protesters are like that. Plenty would target anyone.

@mindyisser There are plenty of clueless protesters out there. There’s nothing stopping them from picking your synagogue to protest even if you’re done nothing to deserve it. It’s better to have a blanket “no houses of worship” rule, to clue in those types before they embarrass their cause.
