⛨ The Bank of Evil: Bank of International Settlements ⛨
You were taught that the Allies and the Axis were locked in an uncompromising moral struggle, with no middle ground. Some of you even have been led to believe that the Nazis "were the good guys."
But what if, while millions died in frozen trenches and air sieges, there was a place where American central bankers sat beside Hitler’s bankers, drinking wine and discussing interest rates as if the world wasn't on fire?
This is the story of the Bank for International Settlements—the BIS in Basel Switzerland. A financial institution so powerful it placed itself above international law. A bank that never did what it was intended to do but instead laundered stolen gold and kept the Nazi war machine alive many years longer than it should have survived. The BIS orchestrated a financial heist on a Continental Scale and without it, our CIA would never have been created nor able to launch their campaigns of terror worldwide after WWII ended.
The BIS was created in 1930, in the wreckage of World War I. Europe was bankrupt. Germany was crushed by reparations. The global economy was fragile. Coincidentally, 6 months after the 1929 Stock Market crash.
The world’s most powerful central bankers—Baron Montagu Norman of the Bank of England, Baron Hjalmar von Schacht of the Reichsbank, and leaders of the Federal Reserve and Bank of France—proposed a solution: a Central Bank for Central banks.
The BIS charter was unprecedented, Hjalmar Schacht (Hitler's future Finance Minister) helped draft it, as he was trained in the US and was personal friends with NY and Chicago bankers. The Charter would state that the BIS buildings function under inviolability - Its assets untouchable. Its officials immune from arrest. Its books closed to inspection. It was a sovereign entity inside a sovereign state.
Officially, it managed reparations. In reality, it created a private fraternity of central bankers who believed politicians were temporary and wars were profitable "interruptions." Finance, they believed, was eternal.
The BIS sat at the center of what became known as the “gold loop.” Stolen gold was melted down, sold to the Swiss National Bank, paid through BIS accounts, and transferred in Swiss francs to neutral countries supplying Germany with vital war materials. By passing through the BIS, stolen gold became legitimate.
The Reichsbank was a founding member of the BIS. As Germany rearmed in violation of the Treaty of Versailles, the BIS facilitated the transactions that made rearmament possible. Personal relationships mattered more than national alliances.
Both Barons Montagu Norman and Hjalmar Schacht were close friends and God parents to each other’s children. OSS Head Allen Dulles of the Swiss Mallet Prevost Templar Banking Dynasty was a childhood friend of Thomas McKittrick, President of the BIS, who was really a Swedish Sorensen. Swedish Jacob Wallenberg was coincidentally married to a Sorensen. Wallenberg agent and BIS Advisor Per Jacobsson, was a mentor to Hjalmar Schacht, as Schacht’s mother was a Baronness from Sweden. Swiss John Foster Dulles and brother to Allen Dulles, was married to a Rockefeller.
After Pearl Harbor, doing business with the Nazis became a federal crime. Yet McKittrick continued presiding over BIS board meetings attended by senior Nazi officials, including future war criminals. Little did Americans know that McKittrick was working for the other side.
After the war, no senior BIS figure was meaningfully punished. Allen Dulles protected them. McKittrick became President of Chase Bank. Top Nazis got promoted to top positions at the CIA, NATO, EU. NASA etc.
Today, the BIS is more powerful than ever. It will serve any regime—dictator or democracy—so long as the ledger balances.
