That moment when you meet the honorary #Daytona500 pace car driver, your childhood hero, & the 🐐.... Peyton Manning. As well as one of the best natural slot wide receivers of all-time @bstokley14. #AllTheFeels #Colts 🏁

Initial thoughts on Colts QB Daniel Jones new 2-year, $88M deal: -Significant money, but short-term deal (easy exit for Colts after 2 years). -Pays to be avg. to good QB1 these days. -Gives Jones 2nd year if can't regain '25 form in '26. -Agents got wish and can get $50M p/y.

Brock Marion was a dude! Remember fondly those old AFC East battles between the Colts and Peyton Manning and that stout Dolphins defense with Zach Thomas, Jason Taylor, Patrick Surtain Sr., and Brock Marion. x.com/SharpFootball/…
Warren Sharp@SharpFootball

not only did Brock Marion play all 16 games (100%) in 1997 after the Ravens failed him... he missed ONLY ONE game the next 8 seasons! he played 127 of 128 games the rest of his career and made 3 Pro Bowls along the way

It's worth noting that neither Colts 1st rounder (Paye) nor 2nd rounder (Dayo) received 2nd contracts from Indy in '21 draft class. Yes, they garnered big deals elsewhere, but not sure how anyone can shape that to be a success story from Colts' perspective. Not as much return.

Initially, I remember some people being really excited about this pick, but Kwity Paye never really developed as an impact pass rusher. Serviceable starter, with high character, who holds his own in run defense, but never lived up to draft billing. stampedeblue.com/indianapolis-c…

Alec Pierce has emerged as one of the NFL’s premier deep threats since entering the league in 2022, recording the 5th-most deep receiving yards over that span (1,373). Pierce averaged a league-high 16.9 air yards per target over the last four seasons (min. 150 targets). @Colts | #ForTheShoe

Free agent WR Alec Pierce has agreed to terms to remain in Indianapolis on a historic 4 year $114M deal that will make him the highest paid free agent receiver in NFL History. The deal negotiated by agents Mike Swenson and CJ LaBoy, came together overnight and contains $84m in guarantees, $60m fully guaranteed at signing, and a max package of $116M.

Stings to lose Pitt. However, after re-signing Pierce, there was no way that Colts could pay ~$60M for WR1 and WR2 when neither is an elite player (Pierce has elite deep skill). MPJ will always be better real life football player than fantasy and Colts will miss his blocking.

@JeremyLshow Everyone was down on Daniel Jones last offseason too. Now his camp is out here asking for $50M after a half-year with Steichen.

I fully get Jones mastered Colts offense mentally, was breaking out before injuries struck, & has great rapport already w/ Steichen. But he's also coming off an Achilles tear! You can't tell me that Kyler Murray + Hendrickson + *FA LB* isn't better for 2026 than DJ at $50M😅.

@NiceReedSteve I've never treated Jones and Pierce as mutually exclusive because they shouldn't be.

With Zaire Franklin's departure, and fellow veteran LB Germaine Pratt a free agent, it sure sounds like the Colts will have two new starting LBs defensively in 2026--as they look to get younger and faster.

@DarkWizard44 If Pierce was franchise tagged, there's essentially no way he'd be departing elsewhere for at least the 2026 campaign.

Jones' 2026 may be a wash recovering from Achilles, but is a good starting QB game manager. With MPJ's production slowing down and no more AD Mitchell, Colts don't have ready replacement for Pierce. He has such unique skill set w/ ability to get vertical, high point & catch.

If push comes to shove between Colts two priority free agents: Daniel Jones and Alec Pierce, Pierce should be the recipient of the franchise tag IMHO. Should have a more robust market, as far as more suitors, and his loss would be bigger for Colts long-term. Harder to replace.
