This is a perfect case for that meme where the low and high IQ people agree but the midwits think something else. The survival rate of your particular surgeon is much more relevant than the overall statistic. With a 50% survival rate it is highly unlikely that 20 people in a row survive, much more likely that this surgeon is good and your chances are better.
