@ryangrim Notice at no point did Ryan address any of the comments and ACTUAL statements that Hassan made. He made no counter arguments for why the things Hassan has said and done are acceptable, he simply laundered Hassan's views because he agrees with most of them. Shame.

Deeply irresponsible segment that asserts without pushback that Hasan “and his ilk” can not possibly have legitimate criticisms of Israel but are merely trying to smuggle their “Jew hatred” into the discourse in the guise of antisemitism. Not once is it mentioned that Israel just today implemented the death penalty but only for Palestinians. Good on Donie for getting Hasan’s response in there but the panel discussion and comments from Tapper are just obscene, especially today.

Biden’s Save student-loan plan is dead. Borrowers will have to quickly pivot. More than 7 million people on the Saving on a Valuable Education plan, or Save, will have 90 days to find a new plan or face a potential huge spike in their monthly bill. stocks.apple.com/AqKqVVm2uSMiF7…

@CrusenJohn @caitoz Well, not really. The issue isn't 'billionaires', it's human self-interest. It affects every single one of us. Capitalism encourages & reinforces this inherent trait. It ALWAYS leads to consolidation of wealth & power, because lawmakers are SELF-interested & can be bought.

@caitoz If capitalism ceases to exist, who do you think the enforcers would be? Would they be miraculously benevolent? Billionaires are not inherently evil. Politicians and government leaders would not become virtuous overnight in your socialist pipedream.

When we’re kids we play cops and robbers, and watch cartoons about evil criminals being stopped by virtuous crime fighters. Then when we mature we learn that all the most evil people are operating within the laws of our nation, and nobody ever sends them to jail. Ask a child to draw a Bad Guy and they’ll probably draw a bank robber, a thief, a supervillain, or somebody breaking the law in some way, because that’s what young people are trained to believe wickedness looks like in their world. They won’t usually draw a politician, a billionaire, a media mogul, a tech plutocrat, a warmonger, or any of the rich and powerful people who are causing the real suffering in our world. The ones who impose laws upon our society ensuring the continuation of poverty, inequality, war, oppression and tyranny. The ones destroying our ecosystem and poisoning our minds with empire propaganda. We give kids an infantile view of the world where the villains look like bandits and the heroes look like superpowered crimefighters and GI Joe. Which in a sense is understandable — no parent wants their young child exposed to the real horrors which exist in this civilization. You wouldn’t tell a six year-old that we are ruled by psychopaths who make the most sadistic serial killers look like cuddly little Pikachus. The problem is that far too many adults never grow out of this worldview. Post a video of police brutality online and they’ll come crawling out of the woodwork frantically defending whatever monstrous act it reveals, no matter how self-evidently damning the footage might be. Oppose the latest war propaganda narrative and they’ll come falling all over themselves in a mad scramble to tell you the government would never lie to us and the Evil Regime of the Day definitely needs to be overthrown via US airstrikes. They never unlearned the cartoons they ingested as children. They still think the struggle of good versus evil is a struggle of lawbreakers versus law-upholders. They never learned that there are many kind and decent people in prison, and that all the most horrific abuses in history have been perfectly legal under the law of the land. Genocides are legal under the governments who authorize them. Wars are legal under the governments who wage them. Capitalist exploitation, imperialist extraction, oligarchic corruption and ecocide for profit are all legal under the governments who pass laws making them possible. The police never show up to arrest the men who do these things. The police show up to arrest anyone who tries to stop them. The law doesn’t exist to protect ordinary people from the most malignant members of our society, the law exists to protect the most malignant members of society from ordinary people. A mature understanding of the world clearly recognizes this. And it’s the exact inverse of the understanding of the world we are indoctrinated into as children. The real villains of our world look like the powerful plutocrats and empire managers who are inflicting unfathomable suffering upon the innocent. The real heroes look like the brave revolutionaries and truth-tellers who work to dismantle the power structure that those tyrants wield against the rest of us. Becoming a real grown up means recognizing that the monsters were never under your bed. They were standing in broad daylight wearing expensive suits and ruling the world.

Delta airplane engine explodes after takeoff—flying from Brazil to Atlanta. U.S. FAA is gov't authority to last certify this plane safe to fly. Trump Administration got rid of 1200 FAA workers by firing or buyout—including maintenance mechanics. "We're going to die!" kids cry. "The plane is on fire!" passengers yell out. Pilots declared an emergency, kept the climb low, and returned safely to São Paulo/Guarulhos International Airport—with no injured passengers. Brazilian government agency, CENIPA, has now taken charge of the official safety investigation and post-incident inspection of the aircraft.

Hamas Statement following the passing of the execution law: The Israeli Knesset's approval of the law executing Palestinian prisoners reflects an unprecedented level of criminality and a blatant disregard for all humanitarian and international laws and covenants. For the occupation, which has previously executed hundreds of prisoners under the weight of torture and medical neglect inside its prisons, is today seeking to provide legal cover for a crime that already exists, by legislating their direct execution, in an overt attempt to liquidate the issue of the prisoners. And in practice, the occupation has never hesitated to commit field executions, having executed tens of thousands of our people's civilians in the streets, homes, hospitals, and schools, without trial, with premeditation, and without even bothering to justify this terrorist behaviour.

Let me break this down simply: You're an idiot. Idiocy is bad enough, but you're a dishonest idiot, which is worse. No, the money is not sitting in bank accounts. It's in stocks, real estate, and assets. To turn it into bank accounts, it would have to be liquidated. This would destroy more than half of its value instantly, if you could liquidate it at all. (You just took the money away from anyone who could buy it.) Further, if you could get face value for ALL billionaire wealth, you'd pay for about 3 months of government spending. Once. You wouldn't touch the things you're salivating over. Moron.

Let me break this down simply: We have a greed problem. We can afford Medicare for All. We can afford to house every person sleeping on the street. We can afford to make public college tuition free and guarantee access to universal pre-k to every child in America. The money exists. It's just sitting in the bank accounts of billionaires who write blank checks to corrupt politicians to make sure it stays there. Tax the rich. Fund the people. That's it.

China just buried the internet underground. China built a 1,300-ton data cabin submerged under the sea, housing 24 server racks running 400 to 500 servers cooled entirely by the ocean. No air conditioning or cooling towers sucking up millions of gallons of water, just cold seawater doing the work for free. Standard data centers spend up to 50 percent of their total energy just on cooling and this one cuts that number to below 10 percent. And this is just the beginning, China’s plan calls for 100 of these underwater cabins. Meanwhile, a second facility just launched off Shanghai, wind-powered for $226 million which targets a PUE of 1.15 almost perfect energy efficiency. Now here is the part that stings, the US invented this concept. Microsoft launched Project Natick back in 2013, they sank 855 servers off the coast of Scotland. The experiment worked beautifully and only 6 of 855 servers failed compared to 8 out of 135 in a land-based center. Then Microsoft shut the whole project down and in 2024, the head of Microsoft’s cloud division said: “I’m not building subsea data centers anywhere in the world.” America proved it worked while China actually built it. This matters beyond energy efficiency, the US is already hitting an energy bottleneck. New AI data centers need more than a gigawatt of electricity enough to power a small city and there is not enough power coming online fast enough. Meanwhile, China does not have that problem, it has a coordinated national energy buildout, offshore wind farms, and now data centers that barely need power for cooling.

This might be a stronger clap back than you’ve had against the war or your corrupt colleagues. But we don’t need any more silly beefs like this. You voted in favor of Iron Dome a couple of times. That’s ok, water under the bridge. You voted for IHRA definition of antisemitism, which is inexplicable and egregious. Of course, sending any kind of weapons to Israel is worse than the speech you blocked, but it’s against all progressive beliefs to equate criticism of Israel with antisemitism. I know that stuff is really popular in Washington, but it’s unacceptable to take our speech rights away like that. But everything in the past is erased the minute you start fighting. So, please fight as hard as you can against this war, the insane Israeli aggression and the occupation. No, you’re not fighting nearly hard enough right now. Yes, we would like you in the battlefield next to us. If you can’t fight the establishment over this, what can you fight them over? Either you put your boots on and stand a post or we’re not interested in any sarcastic comments toward people who have been fighting against this war and Israel’s control over this country in the trenches this whole time.

Don't be, you're falling into their delusions, tip should be based on service and what was ordered not how much was spent! If I go in to a Restaurant and sit down and order a $1000 bottle of wine, thats it just a bottle of wine, that does NOT mean I owe the Waitress a $200 tip!

I’m usually a strong tipper. I respect the work and understand how tough restaurant jobs can be—but tipping is still tied to service. Tonight started off rough. I walked in, waited at a “please wait to be seated” sign, and got no acknowledgment. Eventually, I had to ask if they were even seating people. I got seated, ordered, food came out, and yes—the server checked in. But when it came time to leave, everything fell apart. I had cash ready—a $20 and a $10—and planned to ask for $5 back, leaving about a $7 tip on an $18 tab. I know I’m a one-top, so I try to tip a little extra to make up for it. The check gets dropped… and then nothing. No follow-up, no effort to close it out. I’m just sitting there, clearly ready to pay and leave. At a certain point, I’m not going to wait indefinitely just to hand someone a bigger tip. Total was $18.36. I left $20 and walked out. That’s not about being cheap—it’s about not being stuck waiting just to pay. If it takes longer to close out than it did to eat, something’s off. Take care of your customers, and they’ll take care of you.
