U.S. foreign assistance plays a vital role in helping those in need, but has too often been plagued by waste, fraud, and abuse, enriching bad actors instead of promoting American interests. As Chairman of the Oversight & Intelligence Subcommittee, I am committed to shining a light on a broken system where weak oversight allowed taxpayer dollars to be exploited, even to the point of being diverted to terrorist organizations. We owe it to the American people to demand accountability. That means reforming foreign assistance so every dollar is tracked and every program is measured by real outcomes, not just dollars spent.
