After breaking up with my boyfriend of 2 years yesterday, I hired a pickup truck to move my things back to my apartment. During the trip, I shared what had just happened, and the driver kindly invited me out to dinner at a local restaurant. Not feeling entirely comfortable going alone, I asked my cousin to join us. We had a decent meal, but when the waitress brought the bill (R965.87), the driver suddenly changed. He said, “Since you decided to invite your cousin when I only invited you, you two can pay for your own meals. I’ll only cover what I ate.” He paid for his portion and left us there.We eventually got an Uber home. Later that night, he sent me this message:“I now understand why that man decided not to marry you. You’re dumb and childish. No grown woman does that. Grow up!” I’m honestly still shocked and deeply offended.
