Blue Jays complete the sweep. It’s the first time they’ve swept the Mariners in a series of 3 or more games since 1991.

Anyone listen to any good books lately? Who is the new Michael Lewis? Geopolitical or business fiction. With the Canadian and American elections I need a bit of a political podcast detox. Thanks

I am officially pro two-bag at first base. No more clipping of feet or running into fielders. Baserunners have to run in foul territory but touch a base thats in fair territory. If it was a two-bag situation from the beginning of time no one would question it. we'd just nod and say, well yeah that makes sense.

TLDR: If you throw from a low slot but don't get much ride on your heater that doesn't mean you can't throw it up in/above the zone. Check that VAA, and if it's low, start throwing it up in the zone, but only if you can command it! Another Bryan Woo punchie for the people:

This is a great idea for a game that is fun and will help kids (and adults) build number sense and epistemic calibration.

This loose talk by this administration, and the fact that we know Trump knows and loves default (he is a genuine expert) should concern any one holding treasuries. Risk-free assets no more (if they ever were).
Peter Schiff@PeterSchiff

According to Jeff Gundlach, Scott Bessent discussed extending maturities and lowering coupons on Treasuries held abroad. This is tantamount to a default. The fact that a sitting U.S. Treasury Secretary is speaking publicly about default should cause foreigners to dump Treasuries.

The KWS team was out in beautiful BC last week with @Dairycrop 🌾 Hybrid rye is looking fantastic! Mowing at flag leaf–early boot to make way for corn 🌽—a great example of how hybrid rye supports efficient land use & crop rotation flexibility. #HybridRye #bcagriculture #forage

The solution is to embrace LLMs, encourage students to use them as "thinking buddies" or private tutors at home––which is how I use it, and how they'll be using it for the rest of their lives. For exams, pivot to ~100% in-class essays and oral exams. Worked like a charm in my University of Austin seminar. I'm not sure this is a net-bad change over the status quo. And even if it is, it's inevitable anyway. Resisting it is like resisting the advent of calculators. The alternative route is a stupid & unwinable arms race between cheaters and cheat-detection. Professors are destined to lose this arms race, b/c the incentives to successfully cheat will always be stronger than the incentive to catch cheaters.
Steve McGuire@sfmcguire79

For higher education, “AI’s takeover [is] a full-blown existential crisis.” “College is just how well I can use ChatGPT at this point.” “I think we are years — or months, probably — away from a world where nobody thinks using AI for homework is considered cheating.” “It isn’t as if cheating is new. But now, as one student put it, ‘the ceiling has been blown off.’ Who could resist a tool that makes every assignment easier with seemingly no consequences?” “Massive numbers of students are going to emerge from university with degrees, and into the workforce, who are essentially illiterate.” “The humanities, and writing in particular, are quickly becoming an anachronistic art elective like basket-weaving.” “Many teachers now seem to be in a state of despair.” “Every time I talk to a colleague about this, the same thing comes up: retirement. When can I retire? When can I get out of this? That’s what we’re all thinking now.”

#BlueJays Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has 31 hard-hit outs this season—batted outs of at least 95 mph. He has a expected batting average and an expected slugging of .448 and .935, respectively on those, versus an actual batting average and slugging percentage of .000. Same thing happened last year, and it was at about this time that the switch flipped.
