@Jason_Jorjani Beware those "nordics". Most have failed to consider the limitless possibilities of the universe, particularly that a parasitic species of primates may be the ones leading us to our destruction. reddit.com/r/reptiliandud…

Even if you contend that Kubrick's death affected the color grading of the original release - look at how he used characteristically deep hues in dream logic sequences in his other films.
Pvt. Pyle in the barracks bathroom immediately comes to mind.
Alex and the droogs outside at the beginning of Clockwork, where they attack the singing homeless man.
Wendy in the lobby of the Overlook at the height of her dreamlike hallucinations, seeing cobwebs and skeletons in the couches and chairs.
When you compare the aforementioned releases with the Criterion version of EWS, the cyan and teal tones are absurdly out-of-place

English

I'm not defending the blu ray version. The criterion has far too much of a teal push, to the point that it completely numbs the intended emotional pull of the dream scene's characteristic deep blue hues- hues that bathe those sequences in the film's deepest dream-logics. It is utterly appalling as the importance of Kubrick's color theory, and his unique application of it within each of his films, is modified further here than on any other contemporary classic reissue. It is modified so as to effectively override the original intent- intent that is clear in 35mm scans.

it's a 2-pronged attack on art:
1) stealth replace real versions on streaming with altered
2) let real versions go out of print on physical, and replace them with newly-authored altered versions
this is the war on art of the next 100 years, and it's only just getting started

@javier078 I agree that he did well in those, I agree with the OP that none of those are good or real movies.
English

I disagree but each their own
He was great in F1, Babylon and Bullet Train.

Brad Pitt has been coasting off of a great 2000s run and solid 2010s run. He has not been in a good/real movie since 2019.

Manufacturing a deadly virus only to turn around and play the hero who saves the world from it — that's what supervillains do in movies and comics.

He individually is great in Babylon (I detest the film)
Actually really liked The Lost City and his angle there, albeit a small role
And yeah, F1 felt like underwhelming Maverick, but a fun one-off cinema movie.
I think Fincher will get more out of Brad in his Hollywood sequel than Tarantino got originally (which was still perfect)

@StolenDans This one integrates all of them reddit.com/r/reptiliandud…

I don't think Spielberg really understands that there isn't a sturdy, collective conception of Truth. We don't live in a shared reality. New information doesn't destroy worldviews, it gets integrated into them — that is if it's not ignored altogether.

Saw Disclosure Day. Is Spielberg kind of stupid?

Conversely, he brings his personal resentment of particular artists into his reviews.
No better example than Julian Casablancas.
Fantano always saw the value in Julian's composition and voice, even in more negative reviews from 2011/13. After their interview, Fantano has vehemently disliked Casablancas' work, going so far as to give the Voidz a NOT GOOD on their latest album, and calling the newest Strokes single "Julian's worst".
I think any reasonable person should see how undermining it is to a reviewer's personal integrity/ discernment when they use their reviews as a platform to project their personal resentments in bad faith.
