@philiprosedale I don't think that a privacy equivalent of using RL-cash is actually something we should do, because of regulatory issues. It is fine within a nation. But even there are rules and for a reason.

In the same way that privacy is a profound risk in 'metaverse' worlds, privacy of transaction information is a profound risk here as well. CBDCs cannot safely be used until there is privacy equivalent to the privacy we enjoy when using cash.

"It's not a question of if but when" seems like an unhelpful hype-y statement. You can apply it (uselessly) to fusion energy, web3, or asteroids crashing into the earth.
