In my years in crypto, I’ve not seen another founder like @IOHK_Charles who has worked so tirelessly for the success of the projects that they have founded and built. It is imperative that we come together and recognise that we do not have a right to remain in the top10 (or higher). @MidnightNtwrk completes a missing and essential core primitive that was built as a partner chain to @Cardano in mind.
I understand that we are all feeling the pain of another crypto winter and it’s difficult to bear. But like all winters, it will end.
However, we will only emerge stronger if we put aside old grievances (that sincerely distract us from moving forward) and show institutions (who are deciding which L1s to adopt) that we have a strong and committed community.
We are not only stronger together (@Cardano x @MidnightNtwrk); but we are more relevant.

This has nothing to do with blind trust. We have made multiple disclosures about this topic and I will never back down. People building directly on midnight are aware about the bridge strategy. To say it's been miscommunicated is completely disingenuous. We have spent more than two years talking about this topic and even created bespoke protocols to facilitate it like Ouroboros Peras. The meta issue here is the perpetual lack of good faith and the assumption that midnight is the enemy of Cardano. I will repeat myself from the video that I shot. If this is allowed to fester Cardano will fail. I do not want to look back at the last 10 years of my life and mark it down with an L. For the sake of everyone who has sacrificed so much to try to get this ecosystem going, we have to stop self-sabotaging. We have to stop holding up people who try to tear us down.

An update on our engagement with @Mastercard. While Cardano was not included in the initial cohort of 85 launch partners, @emurgo_io has been actively engaging with their APAC team to change that and ensure our ecosystem is represented. Following a leadership transition at Mastercard APAC —where our primary contact moved to EY — we have successfully connected with his successors. They were excited to speak with us and I am pleased to share we are now in the Qualification Stage for the Global Crypto Partner Program. Milestone moment: NIGHT is now live. 🕛
With today’s launch of NIGHT as a Cardano Native Asset (CNA), we’re officially kicking off the countdown to redemptions for the more than 4.5B tokens claimed during the Glacier Drop and Scavenger Mine phases.
This marks the first step in bringing NIGHT to the community as we continue progressing toward a fully decentralized Midnight mainnet.
Redemption windows will open in phases (“thaws”). The redemption portal will launch shortly beforehand to allow people to preview their allocations and thawing schedules ahead of time.

Cardano post-mortem 🤔
A malicious actor copied a reported vulnerability from testnet to mainnet using a bit of AI to help him implement the attack quickly. The attack failed to break Cardano, but was effective enough to temporarily break wallets and dApps.
As community we have learnt the following:
1) There has been a terrible way of communicating issues to the SPOs, the bug was discovered the day before and many SPOs didn't know anything about it
2) Many SPOs don't check the code they are running, they update their node trusting IOG blindly
3) The attack failed and was the heaviest attack Cardano received so far. The chain forked but didn't halt and the SPOs slowly converged to the proper fork
4) We crucially need different implementations of the Cardano node, if one is bugged the others will protect the chain
5) Running SPOs with different node versions actually protected the chain, because not all node versions suffered of this vulnerability
6) dApp and wallets NEED to implement a fail-safe logic when these rare events happen. No wallet or dApps was working during the attack
7) The attacker has been identified and will now face legal consequences. It is very difficult to be anonymous in a public blockchain without zero knowledge protocols
8) IOG, Foundation and Emurgo entered a war room together and coordinated for the first time. This must become the norm, we are all tired of them hating each other. Please spend your energies to fix the Cardano issues instead of putting blame about past mistakes. This effective and efficient war room was exactly the type of results we could get if you would stop behaving like children on Twitter 🤝🏻

A greeting postcard from the @cardano PoolHash war room, where engineers observe how stake pool operators choose to update their nodes in order to maintain the valid chain fork. Quick legend explanation: The sharp turn in the green line at 8 am UTC this morning marks the fork. Later today, we also started tracking the bad chain (red line). The bad chain had more stake and grew much faster than the one without the malicious transaction. The purple line shows the difference between the two forks (note the different scale on the y-axis). In the mid-afternoon, we reached a point where the majority of the stake switched (patched) from the bad chain to the good chain. Since then, the delta (purple) has continued to shrink. Later this evening, when the green line crosses the red one, all the unpatched nodes that are still on the bad chain will also switch to the good one, as it will have become the longer one (Ouroboros at work). Let's hope this is a unique opportunity to watch such a chart and network!

This incident is a testament to Cardano’s robust decentralised design and the exceptional dedication of its participants.
