What is the cricketing equivalent of missing an open goal?

people wonder why adults in their 30s suddenly start picking up hobbies like running, hiking, tennis, and golf. the answer is simple for a lot of people. they weren’t born privileged. their teens and early twenties were spent surviving not exploring. now that there’s a little more time and a little more room, they’re finally getting to become the people they always wanted to be.

It was announced in July 2025 that LIV Golf signed a multi-year agreement to stage events in South Africa... so the event is here to stay, which is FANTASTIC for the country (on the global sports map, our economy and in tourism). Their deal with Steyn City was only for 1 year... with options to extend. And it has been confirmed (today) that the event will be back at Steyn next year (22nd to 25th of April 2027)! Well done to the entire South African team who put it together, to everyone who worked their butts off this weekend (and still today), to all the golfers who took part and to the crowds who really brought the gees. Such a well-organised event. It was a proper jol. I am thankful that I got to go. Can't wait for next year. ❤️🇿🇦

I think a lot about the concept of a one hit wonder and how often it has a derogatory connotation but then I see someone like this and I think god…how lucky to be able to have given the world even just one like this? Even if they themselves struggle with the limitation of it, I find it a deeply honorable incredible thing to give a true HIT to multiple generations
