A-level language teachers: are you finding that the literature element is turning students off taking A-level? Even when I say it's only 10%, some keen kids are getting put off by it.

Why do languages matter? They make you better at whatever you love to do. They open your mind to new perspectives in science, engineering, diplomacy, art, history, hospitality, music, law & much, much more. Communication matters. Connections matter. That’s why languages matter.

Alright, language people - can someone explain to me why the 'i' in 'give' and 'five' is not pronounced the same? Doing reading and phonics with a very inquisite 5 year-old, and I have no clue how to answer 😂

17 years ago today, 18 y.o. me landed in London, excited to see what it'd be like to live in a different country (and in a city!) but also terrified of all the what-if. It's been a heck of a ride so far, and a lot of things have changed, but I'm still so glad I got on that plane.
