Are you a Muslim who consumes a lot of the “Self-Help” content out there? You may be internalising Islamically problematic content without realising! Here's an easy 4-part test to see if the content aligns with our faith:

@DillyHussain88 similar stuff amongst secular liberals in Pakistan. Follow @qaiseraraja for the best work on this. He has been a paradigm-shifter. Another example of the disproportionate effect talented people moving "back home" can have. Cultural/language fluency no inferior psychology

Mocking and belittling hadith is kufr. This is Morocco’s Minister of “Justice”. Perhaps he’s okay with his wife, daughters and sisters being left alone in a room with a non-mahram man. Most are not.
ابن ابراهيم@_ibnNuh

Moroccan “minister of justice” Abdul Latif Wahbi says that a (unrelated) man & woman being alone in a house is not a crime. He then refers to the Hadith of Shaytaan being the third of them & mocks it by saying “Give me the national identity card of Shaytaan.”

@DocAbirHealth How do you deal with the late isha and early fajr in the summer months? my work is flexible so i've settled on a rise-early routine for 7-8 months of the year and sleep after fajr for April-Aug.

“How do you get up at 5am every single day?” I mainline caffeine and carbs the second I wake up by keeping an energy drink at my bedside. There is no room for failure. It is unacceptable. The systems must be in place so that on your worst days you can still execute. You are only as strong as your weakest link. Leave nothing up to chance. Especially not your goals.

@CryptoCranium0 i don't get why he would do this and think it's a good idea. Also, Muslims who use "plausible deniability" should not be trusted. A reasonable unbiased person would think that they agreed to a 1-1 discussion - to go against that in this way is deceptive

All Br. Daniel wanted was a friendly brotherly discussion, but by bringing Jewmas to be his human shield and laying a trap like he did at the AIM Conference, this is the second time Uthman has betrayed his trust.

Bryan is a man who has successfully turned his entire existence into a spreadsheet. Only to find out he’s no longer the CEO of his own life but a data entry clerk. When you measure everything like this you strip away what makes it an actual life. Especially one worth living. A man who is always calculating is a man who is always miserable. The soul has been given a body, but when the body becomes a temple of its own, the soul inside is forgotten. Optimisation is a tool, it should never become your master. Give me a short simple life which may seem poor on the outside over a 120 year prison of an existence like this any day. Coming home after a hard days work, to my wife and daughter, a house full of love, a simple meal, praying to God, and a full heart is more than I could ever ask for. Alhamdulilah. You can’t optimise a life you’re not even living. And health is more than the physical or biomarkers, it’s about your mental wellbeing and the state of your soul. What has he gained who has lost himself? And what has he lost who has found himself? The tragedy of life is not that it ends so soon but that people wait so long to begin living it. Stop measuring and start living.

idk if I can keep this up you guys. I just got one more to do: a five min warm eye compress before bed. I do endless things every day. From the moment I wake up to bedtime, and even when I'm sleeping, I'm always doing something and measuring it. It never ends. Help.

@lexfridman this is probably linked to "eliminating negativity" irl or online which over time leads to a social-correction deficiency so you think writing something like this is appropriate. Others in the podcast space seem to do this too. Too fragile - "I don't read comments"

This life is fucking amazing. I'm so grateful to be alive, with all of you on this miracle of a planet. Oh and I'm sorry if I fuck things up sometimes. I'm a flawed human. But I promise to do whatever I can to try to add some more understanding and love to this world. After the world leader convos I get attacked intensely by all sides, and many disparate online communities. It has led to some really low points for me mentally. But I don't matter. I'm listening. I'll do better. And I'll try to find the strength to do more of them, always with rigor and backbone, seeking to truly understand. And despite accusations, I do extremely high amounts of research, sometimes 100+ hours for a conversation. Ask many of my previous guests. But when I come to the table, I put all that aside, and make it all about the other person. I don't ever try to sound smart. I know the vastness of my ignorance. But I'm trying. Sometimes I do fuck up and sound like a douche, or do something incredibly cringe. And I hate myself right after. But I'd rather fail and embarrass myself a million times, than not do what my heart says is right. And besides world leaders, historians, CEOs, engineers, etc, this year I want to travel the world and talk to a lot more everyday people on and off the mic. This is something I've wanted to do for a long time. Anyway this is written while on I'm on a 10 mile run, probably procrastinating, since to type I have to walk and not run 🤣 But I did just get stopped by a super smart and kind girl who works at a humanoid robotics company here. And she asked if she can give me a hug to thank me for being me. Sometimes the universe sends you a message that even a dumb dude like me can almost hear. I really needed that today. Thank you for the hug and the kindness 🙏 I'm just hoping she was real and I didn't just imagine that 🤣 Then again if I went full crazy might as well enjoy it! Back to the run. I love you all! ❤️

The first time I found out that American women not only can, but are expected to go back to work 2 weeks after giving birth I genuinely could not believe it. It is one of the few things in my life that left my lost for words. 2 weeks passes in the blink of an eye. Even if your birth went perfectly smoothly, you have not recovered yet. Most births, especially these days, do not go smoothly. In the UK even men get 2 weeks off for the birth of their children. Women get 9 months. And even then most women will not go back to work full time (rightfully so imo). And this is just from the women’s perspective, not the beautiful life you just brought into this world who cannot live without you. Even at 9 months babies will struggle without their mothers for extended periods of time. 2 weeks is criminal.
Helen@anomalie_blue

In many U.S. states, puppies are not legally allowed to be separated from their dog moms before 8 weeks, yet 1 in 4 American women will return to work within 2 weeks of giving birth.

@DocAbirHealth same thoughts. I experimented with the Oura ring and Whoop but ended up with a regular fitbit. Whoop probably is better, and I used it before the upgrades of the last few years, but it's not better enough.

I honestly don’t see the hype behind whoop. I had it for a year and after about 6 months I knew I didn’t need it. There’s a lot of metrics sure, but it’s too easy to get caught up in the data and let it dictate your mood and day. Even if you are able to remain completely unaffected by the data, the question raised here is totally valid. Unless you’re an actual athlete and being at the top of your game is essential, who is truly finding this information valuable? What is the difference between this and a regular fit band or Apple Watch? 99% of people just need to track steps and sleep and maybe HR. You don’t need a whoop for that. It reminds me mostly of people who like to have the most elite training equipment even though they’re average e.g. new runner buys alpha flys If you have the money by all means go for it, but I think it’s become synonymous with people thinking “only those serious about their health and fitness have a whoop” which is of course completely untrue.

This blows my mind. I used Whoop for a while. Here’s what I found: - I wasn’t using the data to change anything I workout almost daily no matter how i feel. Bad sleep rating? I have 3 kids. I can’t just catch up on sleep and recovery. Who is truly finding this information invaluable and actually using it to improve their life?

My dear Pakistani Sunnis, Remember that Shia played a significant role in the founding of Pakistan by forming strong alliances with Sunnis. So, let’s not make generic statements, lest they backfire. In fact, there is a strong case that its founder, M. Ali Jinnah, was also a Shia.

IMPORTANT CORRECTION. Shia preachers have been claiming Jinnah (RA) was a 12ver Shia, therefore 12vers made Pakistan. Jinnah (RA) DIED a Sunni Muslim. Evidence: He prayed publicly ONLY with Sunnis. His ONLY OFFICIAL Janaza prayers were led by Mufti Shabbir Ahmad Usmani.

Watch my contentious but rich discussion with Pakistani public intellectual Sahil Adeem. We discuss the current Iran war, Muslim unity, but then get into feminism, birth rate, and youth marriage, followed by a longer dialogue on Allama Iqbal's philosophy, modernity, idealism vs. pragmatism, the "failures" of Islamic scholarship historically, and more.

@BroHajji A lot of the time, the issue becomes subjective very quickly, and domain knowledge is relevant For example, the simple case of sending automated emails in a campaign. I would say a 10-20 % of people still think that the author is literally sending them a 1 to 1 email.

I’d like to share my thoughts here. Many “high net worth” individuals who promote their lifestyles and sell courses about Dubai as a place for Hijrah are predominantly Salafi. Before you ask how I know, I’m sorry but I can see a distinct look in the images below. These people are hustlers and share similar traits to our cousins. Be cautious and vigilant as this pattern is common among them and some even work together.

@BroHajji Can you define "hustlers" - I've interviewed Abu Musa in 2022 and followed his content before I did so. Some marketing within the entire space can sometimes seem a bit shady, but that's with anything, especially if it is examined without giving benefit of doubt.
