The biggest betrayal against the Luo people is not coming from outsiders anymore. It is coming from Luo leaders who have converted themselves into Nairobi praise singers while the people who elected them sink deeper into poverty, neglect, and humiliation.
They were elected in Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, and Kisii, but they live in Nairobi hotels, workshops, retreats, and boardrooms like corporate employees of the regime. Their politics now survives on microphones, convoys, and television appearances while the villages they came from rot in silence.
Go to the ground in Nyanza and face the truth without escorts and hired crowds.
The roads are broken and abandoned. Hospitals look like punishment centers. Patients buy medicine with harambees while leaders drive fuel guzzlers bought by taxpayers. Markets are dusty, flooded, disorganized, and neglected. Schools remain old, overcrowded, and forgotten exactly as they were years ago despite endless promises during campaigns.
Clean water is still a dream in many areas. Women and children still walk long distances carrying water in 2026 while leaders lecture people about “development” from air-conditioned conference halls in Nairobi.
The youth have been reduced into political accessories. Boda boda riders are only remembered during rallies where they are turned into moving advertisements wearing campaign helmets and reflectors like branded tools. After elections, they return to harassment, poverty, joblessness, and hopelessness.
Then these same leaders have the audacity to demonize anyone opposing Ruto as if loyalty to power is more important than loyalty to suffering citizens.
A leader who fears speaking about pain because he wants protection from State House is not a leader. He is a messenger boy of power.
The Luo community has produced some of the sharpest political minds in Kenya, yet today many leaders behave like survival depends on singing praises in Nairobi instead of fighting for development back home.
When the President visits Nyanza, they suddenly appear with hired applause, clean shirts, roadside banners, and empty slogans pretending transformation is happening. Once the convoy leaves, the same people disappear back to Nairobi and the neglect continues.
Truth does not become hatred because it is uncomfortable.
The truth is that too many Luo leaders have perfected the art of political performance while abandoning the duty of leadership.
