We're talking about AI adoption in Nigerian businesses and Africa at large, with Adebowale Banjo, CEO, @MyCoverAI, and Temitayo Jaiyeola, Head of Tech & Media, BusinessDay. Will it scale?  Will it take our jobs?  Here's my take as someone who lives this reality. Frankly, we don’t even have enough quality AI engineers in Nigeria, let alone across Africa, to fully build or sustain the kind of AI systems we’re afraid of. The deeper problem should not be if AI will replace us. It should be that we may not be equipped to participate meaningfully in the shift that’s coming. We’re worrying about job losses. But the real risk is being left out entirely, because we didn’t build capacity, didn’t invest in talent, and didn’t create local ecosystems that train and retain the right people. AI won’t scale in Africa just because it's trending. It’ll scale when we: Solve the infrastructure bottlenecks Develop locally relevant data and models
 Train and keep top engineering talent
 Build real use-cases that reflect African realities

 And yes, some jobs will change. That’s a global trend. But with the right strategy, AI can augment work here rather than replace it. Instead of being afraid about the future, we should be shaping it. We need more builders and fewer critics. More local founders and more courage to upskill, experiment, and innovate from within. Nigeria shouldn’t just be a market for AI. We should be architects of the solutions we need. #LagosStartupExpo 2.0
