There are some government organizations who have publicly decreed that "rumors" of isolated tornado activity in the Middle East are false. This video, apparently from Al-Jawf, is indeed a tornado. Notice the clear connection of the funnel to the convective cloud above.

It appears that large, destructive hail the size of tennis balls – perhaps larger – has occurred in Oman in association with powerful thunderstorms. Hail this large has the potential to cause significant damage.

March 24, 2023: A day we will never forget. This is especially true for those in Rolling Fork, Silver City, Black Hawk, Vaiden, Winona, Amory, and surrounding communities. In a matter of minutes, lives were changed forever. Although progress has been made, these communities continue to feel the effects of that horrific day, and the road to recovery is still ongoing for many. That night was a powerful reminder of how quickly severe weather can turn life-threatening — especially after dark — and why preparation and awareness are so critical. Our thoughts and prayers remain with everyone who was affected, and with those who lost loved ones during this tragic tornado outbreak. We honor their memory today. #mswx
