Been a while since I've done this, so I figured I'd do one now again. Does anyone have any questions about Re: Zero, whether it be the anime, novels or otherwise? Or does anyone have any questions about me? Note: Of course I won't be able to answer everything.

And of course Im not invested in a fictional character like I would be in a real person for me a character is a plot device that exists to deliver a message, not something I identify with.

It took 10 years to remove Re:Zero Season 1 Episode 15 from the top spot and now it's officially out of the Top 5 too 😭

You finding it „skippable“ shows me that you do not care about Subaru at all. Other people found it predictable yet still thought this was a great episode. Difference being that they care abt Subaru

@panorrrama @IchLacheDE @Lato3Lato @xboxanimee It is supposed to be predictable, that‘s the point. But the interesting part isn‘t really the outcome, it‘s the journey to it. The only people who wouldn‘t like this episode are people who don‘t care about the characters of this show beyond surface level.

(or at least were able to predict it due to it being normal) also just because we know a character doesnt die doesnt mean the whole story is predictable, if you take one possibility from infinite you still have infinite

Subaru will grow into a better person, and have a happy ending with emilia (author confirmed this). Now you know how it ends, are you just going to skip the rest? Since the beginning and middle doesn‘t matter anyway to you

@NotAbotepex @IchLacheDE @Lato3Lato @xboxanimee yeah but I feel like it is the only episode in the whole anime you could just skip (except for the end with echidna which I love) and really wouldnt miss anything. I think it was only referenced one time when he quoted his mom "not beginning or the middle but the end matters"

@panorrrama @IchLacheDE @Lato3Lato @xboxanimee s why flawed characters exist. In 99% of stories written, the protagonist does not die (until maybe the epilogue). The outcome is predictable, yet the story is still engaging due to how it is presented. Same thing with this episode.

@panorrrama @IchLacheDE @Lato3Lato @xboxanimee Well that‘s your opinion. Can‘t change that. Still, you can‘t just dismiss stuff like 2x4 because you found it “filler“. It is absolutely not filler, you just don‘t find it ineresting.

You don‘t need a character to have experienced super fucked-up things for their past to be interesting. That‘s what makes a character relatable. He is absolutely not uninteresting.

@NotAbotepex @IchLacheDE @Lato3Lato @xboxanimee well yeah but there was nothing special about his past (except for maybe him being a shutin but thats normal for an isekai MC too) so if we dont know anything people would just asume it to be like that. thats why i call it a quasi filler that just serves to appeal to emotions

RZ is about character development first and foremost, threats and challenges exist to push characters forward and develop them. Any random challenge that just exists for the sake of it wouldn‘t work as well.

Why do we need to know his past it is an isekai, and if his past is just picturebook normal why even show it?

Ofc the signs were there from the beginning, they were obviously hinting at his past but they could‘ve gone a different route like many other isekais and explained his issues through overblown scenarios. Glad they didnt

I can‘t think of any better way how they could‘ve shown us Subaru‘s past than this one.Maybe you should tell me how you would‘ve done it differently

Idk about dialouges, I would have to watch the ep again but I thought it was a great episode that recontextualized his character in a well-presented way

Are they not allowed to sit on a park bench because it you‘ve seen other shows do it before??? Literally WTF do you mean by school clothes, hes a student who went to school

Most isekai just use the bad parent trope as an easy way to explain why the protagonist doesn‘t want to go back home. Re:zero is pretty special in that regard, as it uses a relatable example that isn‘t just a plot device.

@IchLacheDE @Lato3Lato @xboxanimee by cliché I mean something that has been done a hundred times before. this episode doesnt progress the story at all, except for the ending with Echidna. It is not even a real ReZero episode it feels like a parody of some melodrama slop like your lie in april
