@skaushik100 I take public transportation and see folks smoking fentanyl in front of the sheriff and police. Honestly, why would I pay the fare? I know there is no consequences to anything.

Peak Seattle: 2200 warnings, but only 8 citations issued between May and December 2025, all of them voided (even if they hadn't been, the fine is only $20 if paid within 30 days, but that's all really theoretical since no one is actually getting fined).
Fare evasion is at 35 percent, down only one percent from the same period a year previously, before enforcement efforts restarted. Fare box recovery of operating costs has plunged by nearly two-thirds since 2019 (from 24 percent of total costs recovered to only nine percent). The fare enforcement team that ended up issuing zero citations will cost Metro $3.1M this year.
A Metro spokesperson correctly points out they are implementing the fare enforcement system as it was designed by the King County Council, which apparently continues to believe that any actual enforcement against rampant fare evasion would be inequitable.

The Seattle City Council unanimously passed two ordinances tied to Mayor Katie Wilson’s plan to expand shelter capacity and speed up the city’s response to homelessness.
Wilson's plan aims to add 500 new micro-shelters, known as tiny homes, in the city before June. The council approved her request for $ 5 million in funding and expanded authority to increase the number of tiny homes in existing villages.
Wilson is facing pressure to get a handle on growing homeless encampments across the city.
Councilmember Dan Strauss noted significant encampments that have been established on sidewalks in Ballard, including a camp profiled by KOMO News last week where a couple built a structure with a chimney.
The funding approved by the council will be part of the Mayor's $17.5 million plan to roll out more tiny homes.

@GovBobFerguson @future42org Bob, I literally saw a guy high on bath salts today lighting something on fire over by the Kent street station. I’m not sure the chaos is coming from DC.

@PattyMurray @grok explain to patty murray the taxes added to fuel through the CCA and remind her which political party championed the tax

@GovBobFerguson Bob Ferguson spent months vowing Washington would 'never bend the knee' to Trump.
Now he's publicly thanking President Trump for the disaster declaration and federal funding.
Looks like reality (and flood victims) forced the knee to bend after all.
English

This is excellent news. I appreciate the president approving a major disaster declaration for Washington state and approving funding. Thanks also to the bipartisan coalition of local, state and federal officials who worked hard to advocate for this approval. We appreciate the support, and will be following up with the federal government to get more information.

A beloved Seattle burger chain is under siege, its windows shattered and doors splintered again and again in a string of overnight break-ins that the owners said is pushing them to the brink.

@GovBobFerguson Bob, this is a manufactured crisis. Your policy caused me to pay more in energy costs. And now you’re using my tax revenue to provide relief for those who can’t pay their bills because of your policies. Is this some kind of joke??
English

Despite a challenging budget situation, including costs from the Big Betrayal Bill, Washington state is prioritizing affordability — including $30 million to help low-income residents pay utility bills and upgrade to energy efficient heating and cooling systems.
Governor Bob Ferguson@GovBobFerguson
We can't talk about our state's budget without talking about the Big Betrayal Bill, which cut essential services like Medicaid in order to fund tax cuts for billionaires. That bill costs Washington at least $165 million directly in this budget. We worked to mitigate those harms.

@amymakesamess @Badhombre Can you let me know where you can get arrested for shitting on the sidewalk? I’d like to move there. Because in Washington state it’s totally acceptable.
English

@Badhombre Being arrested for shitting on the sidewalk is a form of pledging allegiance to America!
English

@Badhombre Policy makers are totally ok with feces in the streets of Washington state, I see it everyday. Chances of this being authentic are super high.

NEW: Seattle Councilmember Eddie Lin says he might call for the temporary closure of Lewis Park in the Beacon Hill neighborhood.
He admits the illegal camping and open-air-drug use is out of control. I went there late Wednesday evening and saw it for myself.
Lin overwhelmingly won the District 2 election. But he inherited a hot mess which also includes the crime and chaos of Rainier Valley along with the black market of stolen goods on 12th Ave & Jackson St in Chinatown-ID.

Voting is the foundation of our democracy. A right that was secured through the immense courage of heroes who faced violence to ensure our voices could be heard. Regardless of your party, having your voice heard is the only way to protect our future and ensure that no single leader can dictate the terms of our freedom.

The costs of living are out of control, and the last thing Washingtonians need are unjustified hikes to their utility bills. And yet, in August, Northwest Natural Gas wants to increase gas rates by 19% for 90,000 Washingtonians in the Vancouver area. This increase is not fair, just, or reasonable, and we’re fighting back. Utility companies provide critical services, but the push for profits should not forced onto the backs of captive consumers. atg.wa.gov/news/news-rele…

@weheartseattle Is there a tv in that tiny house playing the Washington state drug commercial asking people to use fentanyl in small doses or with a friend? That would be really funny
English

Exclusive footage was handed to me from a tenant inside his Tiny Home where he smokes illegal fentanyl and meth with his friends. Tiny Home Shelter Villages are low-barrier, anything goes, use and dealing of drugs with NO requirement to use the on sight services. What will be different about the next 500, 1000, or 4000 shelters that will break the cycle of addiction, crime, and chronic homelessness? @MayorofSeattle and @ExecZahilay I have some solutions! Watch! @SeattleCouncil

Our office protects Washington consumers through robust enforcement of the state’s Consumer Protection Act, but Washingtonians also have the power to protect themselves by being watchful for scams. We’ve put out a couple alerts in the last week that folks should take time to learn about. (1/6)

@GovBobFerguson I spent $2000 last month on groceries because you taxed the fuel necessary to get it on the shelves.
English

@future42org @savagecitizens The policy we have in place is - legalize hard drugs, give those most addicted the tools / paraphernalia to use these drugs, and run commercials in people’s home telling them to use fentanyl in low doses or with a friend. Literally that’s the policy.

"There has to be accountability...I'm sorry, but a storefront repair fund is not going to entice more business owners to come into our neighborhoods."
Seattle's LEAD drug diversion program is coming under fire from business owners, Seattle PD, and KING5, as drug addicts repeatedly (and without consequence) terrorize the Belltown Neighborhood.
One business owner interviewed has been robbed x5 times in 6 months. Another owner has had to replace his front door x4 times now. And another has spent $150k in repair costs alone from repeated break-ins!
Paging Mayor Wilson and City Attorney Erika Evans...
