AI lowers the cost of writing code but increases the need for code reviews, verification, observability, and operational excellence. It also exponentially increases the surface area for security. I think software engineers are safe for at least another 3 years.

If AI gets deeply embedded into everyday life, then a huge amount of what society currently rewards as intelligence will get repriced overnight. Not eliminated. Repriced. That means status systems break before labor markets fully do. And status panic makes people act insane.
