Most people don't know Twinkies were created because strawberries went out of season. In the 1930s, baker James Dewar worked for Continental Baking Company, making strawberry shortcake fingers. When strawberry season ended, the machines sat idle for months. Dewar refused to let equipment go to waste. He swapped the strawberry filling for banana cream, created a year-round permanent product, and named it Twinkies after a "Twinkle Toe Shoes" billboard. During the Great Depression, they were cheap, shelf-stable, and comforting. During World War II, bananas were rationed, the filling changed to vanilla—and that became the permanent flavor. Twinkies weren't built as a snack; they were built as a survival product that kept factories running and families fed through America's hardest decades. These are the forgotten stories behind the tools, brands, machines, and inventions that built America. #IronAndHonor

🎙️ "Think about the little dance with the cameraman, do you think that was planned?" 🎙️ "No it wasn’t but it was brilliant, and still remains one of the highlights of that performance. We have always known that Queen was Freddie and Freddie was Queen. We always associated one with the other. When you ask someone what or who is the first thing that pops into their mind when they hear the name Queen, it’s Freddie Mercury of course." - Dr. Brian May #FreddieMercury
