A pronúncia italiana que chamamos de eclesiástica não é, como muitos pensam, uma evolução natural da pronúncia do latim. Ela foi igualmente imposta artificialmente em um determinado momento tanto quanto a pronúncia restituída pode ser imposta hoje. Para ficar claro dou um exemplo: a palavra italiana "amiche" (=amigas) que deriva do latim "amicae", si pronuncia em italiano "amíke", pois essa é a evolução natural. Porém, a pronúncia eclesiástica em latim diz "amitche"? Por que? Porque aplica uma regra artificial escolar rompendo com a evolução natural. Se o critério é evolução natural, devemos pronunciar o latim no Brasil e em Portugal reproduzindo os fonemas do português, porque o português é uma evolução natural do latim. Aliás, antes de São Pio X pedir que se usasse a pronúncia escolar italiana na igreja, no Brasil se pronunciava o latim como o português. Inclusive muitos padres antigos "resistiram" à essa mudança (para dar um exemplo, continuaram a dizer "judica", com o som de "jota" e não de "i").
