In her address, Ngobese-Zuma stated that no Nigerian, Somali, or Zimbabwean died for South Africa’s liberation, insisting that South African citizens must be prioritised over undocumented foreigners. She expressed frustration with the government’s handling of immigration, saying: “We’re frustrated, tired, and feel ignored by our own government.” Ngobese-Zuma accused the government of moving at a “snail’s pace” in addressing undocumented immigration, claiming South Africans have been sidelined while foreign nationals are accommodated to help the government “look good to the rest of the world.” Rejecting accusations of xenophobia, she said: “There’s nothing xenophobic about wanting law and order in your own country.
