On the last day of in-person instruction @RCEMiddle I appreciate our APs @PreisigJessica and @LuciusCulpepper for their leadership (coping with change) and countless hours of planning that occurred this school year with the safety of our Ss and Ts at the epicenter. ❤️ our team.

My first group of Grade 6 students @RCEMiddle came by school today for their Senior Walk for the @DWDanielHigh Class of 2021. Very proud of this amazing group of young people and the potential they have. #proud #classof2021 #potential

Saddened to hear the passing of Dick Hoyt today. This man’s love and devotion to his son inspired me to run my 1st tri & marathon in 2007. I told myself if this man can push his disabled son for 26.2 mi because it made him feel like he was running, I had no excuses. #RIPDickHoyt

@LarryWilliamsTI Definitely agree with recognizing these young men in a timely fashion when they have completed their careers. Qualifications for the HOF/number retirement do stipulate a period of time for being complete with one’s career. The longevity of their careers has delayed recognition.

It is positively mind-blowing that four dudes from the same high school, in the same time period, reach the NFL and stay there this long. Fair to say that whatever Daniel High and this community have done to date to celebrate them has probably not been enough.

Custodians are the backbone of every school, keeping campuses safe for students and staff of all ages. This year, as the world was introduced to a new virus, our custodial staff had to work even harder to keep schools clean and safe. And they did it all with a smile. #ThankSC

Congratulations to @dwdanielFB for winning State Sat in FB. Any team having success this year is a result of uncommon sacrifice by players, coaches, and all their fams. These players had great success @RCEMiddle and it is awesome to see them continue to grow and be Champions!

Just heard a teacher say: “I’ve got a challenging problem for you guys. Well... it’s actually not that challenging for you because you’re brilliant.” How our students feel about themselves is a powerful thing. So yeah... that fires me up.

As a leader one of your most important jobs is to create a great culture. Culture drives expectations, standards and beliefs. These drive behavior. Behavior drives habits and habits create your organization and outcomes.

Try your best every day to make someone else’s day.

With the uncertainty this fall, the difference in administrators & leaders will be noticeable. Admin will feel safe maintaining status quo. Leaders will be flexible & adaptable to meet the challenges and needs of staff & students. They will seek staff input & keep them in loop.

Kids do not dislike Hard Work. They dislike work that is boring and work that appears meaningless. #edchat #education

Many years from now there will be adults who share stories about when they were in your class. I hope teachers never forget that they’re helping to shape the future memories of those in their care.
