With his past obscured from university vetting boards, Magaji built a thriving second career in academia, teaching in Nigeria and Uganda. Just last year, he reached a new peak: becoming the Dean of the Faculty of Law at the American University of Nigeria (AUN), Yola.

He fought the verdict for over a decade, but by 2008, the Supreme Court unanimously threw out his final appeal. Yet, a major breakdown in justice allowed him to avoid prison entirely.

@TheNationNews Judiciary is another arm of government, but APC sees itself meddling with their independence, by gifting judges houses, cars and other luxuries. Nigeria cannot have INCORRUPTIBLE judgements this way. That's corruption.

PHOTOS: Judicial independence depends on judges’ welfare, says Presidency President Bola Tinubu has said that true judicial independence is anchored on the dignity, security, and welfare of judicial officers, stressing that protecting judges from undue influence is essential to safeguarding Nigeria’s justice system. The President stated this on Wednesday during the commissioning of a newly constructed 10-unit residential quarters for judges of the Federal High Court in Katampe District, Abuja. ---- Continue reading in the comment section

@GuardianNigeria Niger Delta is depressed, the financial aide they give to .Nigerian state is empowering the region where this oil and gas are produced? Why not developing other natural resources in the South West and Northern Nigeria? The country can't grow.

This is a question that my northern brothers and sisters can help answer: When will enough be enough? Considering the recent development and reports that the Kano State Government plans to spend ₦1.5 billion on a mass wedding for 1,500 couples, I believe some important questions need to be asked. These are couples whose future security and economic well-being are not guaranteed. Many young people are struggling with poverty, unemployment, insecurity, and limited access to quality education. This raises a broader question: When will northern politicians prioritize good governance, quality education, economic opportunities, and security for the people? A wedding ceremony may last a day, but good governance can transform lives for generations. These are the conversations we must continue to have if we truly want a better Nigeria.

Today, the court proceedings in my case continued, and while the legal process is still ongoing, I remain hopeful and committed to due process. To every Nigerian who has spoken up, prayed, protested, reposted, checked up on me, or simply refused to stay silent, thank you. Your voices reminded me that the ordinary people still have power when united. What started as a difficult and painful experience has now become a stronger motivation for me to continue believing in a better Nigeria — a country where justice, fairness, and freedom of expression truly exist for everyone. I ask Nigerians not to give up on this country. Do not stop demanding accountability, justice, and good governance peacefully and lawfully. Someday, the child of nobody will truly become somebody without knowing anybody. Justice can never be cracked 🇳🇬

UPDATE ON JUSTICE MARK'S MATTER. I must reiterate that we believe and trust the judicial system. The last hope of a common man lies therein. The case of Justice Mark is peculiar as it concerns the freedom of speech of an average Nigerian. The matter came up today for hearing,

@Ogodo73PhD @underworld_09 Even in higher institutions, you cannot be a course rep,at thesame time the president of a department. That alone shows you're corrupt, you're not there to serve, rather to heat up the polity. Don't be an offspring of bad generation to Nigeria. With NDC a new Nigeria is possible

@underworld_09 There is no law that forbids double registration in any of the political parties. What's important is the name of the candidate to be in the membership registers submitted to INEC 21 days before the date of the primaries.

Wike’s Gubernatorial Choice Hon. Chinda In A Big Twist; — APC may not have a gubernatorial candidate in Rivers in 2027 Rivers State politics is gradually turning into one of the biggest political dramas ahead of 2027. The legal battle surrounding Kingsley Chinda’s emergence as the APC governorship candidate may create a deeper constitutional crisis for the party in Rivers State if not urgently addressed. Here is the major question political observers are asking: How can a serving Minority Leader of the House of Representatives under the PDP suddenly emerge as APC governorship candidate while still occupying a leadership position meant for an opposition party member? According to reports, lawyers have already approached the Federal High Court in Abuja, challenging his participation in the APC primary and seeking his disqualification from the 2027 governorship election. The suit reportedly argues that: • Chinda’s alleged movement from PDP to APC did not comply with provisions of the Electoral Act. • His continued stay as Minority Leader raises questions about dual party affiliation. • His House of Representatives seat could even face legal scrutiny if defection procedures were not properly followed. If the courts eventually rule against him, APC could face a major political setback in Rivers State, especially considering the tension already surrounding the state’s political structure. One thing is becoming clear: The Rivers political crisis is far from over. With Wike’s camp, Fubara’s camp, APC interests, PDP loyalists and multiple legal battles all colliding at once, 2027 may become one of the most dramatic governorship contests in Nigeria’s recent political history.

@underworld_09 Since the inception of upland leadership in R/S, it has been one political disgrace to another. Apart from statesman late Elechi Amadi, with other hidden scholars in upland, the rest have been halfly baked students, which their primary aim of reading law is for a twist for gain.

Tinubu won 2023 general elections with 8 million votes. Today, he won APC primaries with 10 million votes. Honestly, I really admire Tinubu's political prowess. If he can just apply 5% of his political sense into governance, by now Nigeria for don dey resemble Singapore.
