A distinguished Indian delegation comprising more than 60 Indian Recruiting Agents, led by the Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of India, Moscow, along with Consul General Ms. Neelam Rani and Protector of Emigrants, Chennai, Sh. Rajkumar M., participated in India-Russia roundtable titled “Russia–India: Sectoral Demand and Experience of Recruitment from Visa-Regime countries” during the 10th St. Petersburg International Labour Forum held at Expoforum, Saint Petersburg. The session witnessed active participation from the Government of the Russian Federation including Mr. Vasily Ponidelko, Chairman of the Committee on Labour and Employment, St. Petersburg; Ms. Olga Androsova, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg; Mr. Roman Solovyov, Chairman of the Committee on Labour and Employment, Ivanovo Region; along with representatives from various Russian companies and government organizations. During the discussion, speakers emphasized Russia’s growing workforce requirements and highlighted India’s immense potential to bridge the labour gap through its skilled and youthful workforce. Both sides underlined the significance of skill mobility, targeted training, to enable smooth workforce integration. Prime Minister @narendramodi himself has spoken to the President of UAE, the Amir of Qatar, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, the Crown Prince of Kuwait, the King of Bahrain, the Sultan of Oman, the King of Jordan and the Prime Minister of Israel In each case, we received assurances that the well-being of the Indian community would be a priority for the host governments. I have similarly been in close touch with my counterparts in these countries. So far as the United States is concerned, we have maintained regular contact through diplomatic channels While attempts have been made, contacts with Iran at the leadership level are obviously difficult at this time. I have, however, spoken to Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi on 28 February and 5 March 2026. We will continue these high-level conversations in the coming days -Union Minister @DrSJaishankar in Rajya Sabha

The House will also be interested in the issue of an Iranian vessel currently docked in Kochi. The Iranian side had requested permission on 28 February for three ships in the region to dock at our ports. This was accorded on 1 March. The IRIS Lawan docked in Kochi on 4 March. The crew is currently in Indian naval facilities. We believe that this was the right thing to do, and the Iranian Foreign Minister has expressed his country’s thanks for this humane gesture -Union Minister @DrSJaishankar in Rajya Sabha
