Today was a perfect litmus test on the timeline separating those who actually understand football beyond the pitch from those blindly posting with the herd of sheep. Manchester City and the Premier League settlement today is being misread everywhere. City challenged the Premier League’s framework earlier this year, arguing that the Associated Party Transaction (APT) rules which govern sponsorship valuations were being applied unfairly. This case has nothing to do with the 115 alleged breaches. It’s a completely separate dispute. The irony is that fans of other clubs are the very ones benefiting from City’s stance here, yet they are the the ones saying money won and justice wasn’t served, when in reality, City forced the league to play fair. City weren’t just defending themselves here, they were challenging the Premier League to protect a principle that impacts all other 19 clubs. The truth is that Manchester City did the work while the rest watched. In the end everyone benefited.

Plenty doubted him and wanted a change, but his style suited Pep perfectly. This was always enough. Ederson didn’t get the send off he deserved, but he leaves Manchester City as the most successful Brazilian ever to play in the Premier League. An era ends.

With Akanji on his way to Inter, Man City still need to move on one non-HG player (other than Ederson) to avoid leaving somebody out of the Champions League squad. Saudi and Turkish windows open until Sept 10/12. Gundogan not played a minute so far this season.
