This week marks the second phase of the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Level II Practitioners Online Training for participants from Bungoma National Polytechnic. The session focuses on the capstone project following an intensive 40-hour physical training.

Today, I received the leadership of the AgriOPEN Project during a courtesy call ahead of its official launch. AgriOPEN is a EU Erasmus+ funded initiative that will establish a National AgriOPEN Campus to deliver accredited, competency-based agriculture and entrepreneurship programmes through Open and Distance Learning (ODL). The project brings together universities, regulators, industry, farmers and government to expand access to flexible, modular and market-relevant skills training, while supporting Kenya’s transition to Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) and lifelong learning. This initiative strongly complements the mandate of the State Department for TVET by advancing CBET, modular learning pathways, dual training and industry-responsive skills development, while strengthening national coordination through the Ministry of Education and quality assurance and accreditation by KNQA. In attendance were representatives from participating universities, the Director RPL, Mr. Stanley Maindi, the Director General, KNQA, Dr. Alice Kande, Project Co- odinator. Prof Naomi Mwangi, Dr Gatama Gichini and senior Ministry officials.
