Meanwhile, thunderstorm activity has increased from far eastern New Mexico up into Missouri along a cold front this evening! While tornado potential remains low in this environment, the strongest storms would be more than capable of producing severe hail and damaging winds.

A damaging wind threat should emerge across the eastern periphery of the tornado watch this evening, but in the short term, a cluster of more discrete storms south of Chicagoland will continue to pose a threat of strong to intense tornadoes. Upscale growth is expected in time. #ILwx
