FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Shakir Khan Sentenced Following Denial of Motion to Withdraw Plea On March 2, 2026, the Honorable Judge Northup sentenced Shakir Khan, who pled no contest to criminal counts that include election fraud and money laundering, underscoring the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s firm commitment to safeguarding election integrity and holding accountable those who attempt to undermine our democratic process. Khan was sentenced to three years under AB 109, to be served in county jail, with one year suspended and served on mandatory supervision. In addition, the court imposed an eight-year state prison term that is stayed, contingent upon Khan’s successful completion of mandatory supervision. If Khan violates the terms of his supervision, the stayed prison term may be imposed. San Joaquin County District Attorney Ron Freitas said, “Today’s sentence shows the seriousness with which we take efforts to tamper with the electoral process in San Joaquin County. Accountability includes honoring the plea and fulfilling the terms of supervision. If Mr. Khan fails to comply, the full consequences of his sentence will be enforced.” The San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office remains committed to enforcing the rule of law and ensuring that all defendants adhere to their court-ordered obligations.
