Autonomy: Control over your time. More money, more work, more stress, less free time at first. Money changes your attention When you have less, you focus on people, experiences, small wins. When you have more, you focus on protecting it, compared to richer people, fear of losing it. Studies show rich people actually report less day to day joy than middle-class people because they’re more distracted. Happiness from money” peaks around a point Data from many countries shows happiness rises fast with income until you cover needs some security. In the US that’s ∼$75k/year. In Nigeria the “enough” point is lower because cost of living is different. After that point, each extra ₦1M adds way less happiness. So money buys comfort, not contentment. Think of it like this: Money is fuel. Happiness is the engine. Fuel without an engine nothing moves. Engine without fuel also stuck. You need both, but fuel alone won’t make the car happy.
