Every manager who’s failed Ireland made the same mistake sticking with the established names when they didn’t need to. This camp is different. Here’s my 25-man squad for Grenada, position by position, with full rationale. 🇮🇪

What a night for Andrew Omobamidele and Strasbourg!🇮🇪 Trailing 2-0 from the first leg in Mainz, Strasbourg returned home and produced a stunning comeback, thrashing Mainz 4-0 to advance in style. Omobamidele was excellent at the heart of defence - calm in possession, composed throughout, and defensively solid as Strasbourg completely dominated the tie. Strasbourg are a hugely talented young side and a brilliant environment for the defender to develop. With injuries now behind him, Omobamidele is finally getting a consistent run of games. They now face Real Vallecano in the semi-final, and Omobamidele is the last remaining Irish player in European competition this season.

Strasbourg are an excellent side - play some magnificent football with top young talent. What a place for Omobamidele to develop and is doing well tonight.

One imagines Heimir Hallgrímsson will have a keen eye on proceedings tonight with Irish interest on both sides.

It looks like Troy Parrott and AZ Alkmaar’s Conference League dream may be coming to an end. AZ face a huge task tonight after their 3-0 first-leg defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk, needing a miracle turnaround to reach the semi-finals. However, they’ve rotated heavily for the second leg, naming a weakened side with Parrott starting on the bench, suggesting the Dutch side may already have one eye on the cup final this Sunday. A disappointing turn for Parrott after a strong European campaign, but Irish hopes remain tonight as Andrew Omobamidele and Strasbourg look to complete their own turnaround later.

Pats suffer a 1-0 defeat at home to Shamrock Rovers and while it’s not season-defining, it’s a big statement in the title race ⚽ Rovers looked the better side throughout and Jack Byrne once again showed his class, a real joy to watch and arguably the best player in the league right now 🔥 Victor Ozhianvuna continues to impress as well, growing into his role and showing real strength, intelligence and quality beyond his years.

The club play in the top flight in Luxembourg - big opportunity for three lads making a name for themselves outside of the LOI system.

A huge night for the Irish contingent as QPR march into the final.
