RestoringVision has impacted over 150 countries around the world, including Mexico, where Mateo lives. Mateo is a car repair business owner whose presbyopia significantly affected his ability to perform close-up tasks, making it difficult to read and work with small parts. A pair of eyeglasses was the solution Mateo needed to see clearly again. He’s now able to work more efficiently and continue growing his business. RestoringVision is grateful for the opportunity to improve his life and the lives of others affected by presbyopia. Every person receiving a pair of glasses—like Mateo—represents a life changed. #RestoringVision #VisionCare #Mexico #PresbyopiaAwareness

As the 78th World Health Assembly (#WHA78) convenes this week, under the theme of One World for Health,” a reminder that eye health is an essential component of overall health. Our vision is a world where everyone who needs glasses has them. 🌎 Since our founding, RestoringVision has provided eyeglasses to more than 34 million people worldwide. As an inaugural member of the WHO SPECS 2030 initiative, we are committed to working with WHO Member States to achieve the 2030 global target for refractive error—vision impairments including presbyopia, the age-related deterioration of near vision. We do this by partnering with our unparalleled network of international NGOs, local NGOs, governments, and social enterprise partners to provide vision screenings and near-vision glasses to millions of people who would otherwise not have access to them. RestoringVision has been transforming lives by unlocking the potential that lies at the intersection of health, education, and livelihoods. Together with our partners, we remain committed to restoring vision for millions of people in need. #WHA78 #WHO #Presbyopia #EyeHealth

👓 Providing glasses is one of the most impactful, cost-effective health interventions on the planet. 🌱 In developing companies, for every $1 spent on eye health care, $4 is made in economic gain for the country’s economy, according to the landmark Investing in Vision study by an international consulting firm. 📝 These economic gains are caused, in part, by productivity increases made possible by corrective eyeglasses. A study published by Lancet Global Health showed that eyeglasses can improve an adult’s productivity by up to 32% and their income by up to 20%. 🌍 RestoringVision is dedicated to making a global impact—and with this 4:1 return ratio, our team’s work is boosting economic growth while changing lives. #RestoringVision #VisionCare #EconomicDevelopment

RestoringVision’s work has impacted over 150 countries, including Guatemala, where Fernando lives. An electrician in Guatemala City, Fernando received a pair of eyeglasses from the RestoringVision team, and the impact has been life-changing. “I use the eyeglasses to read and to work. They have been a great help. It’s like having good vision again, like having young eyes again. I am sincerely grateful for the donation that RestoringVision made to us.” Like Fernando, most people around the world rely on their vision to work. Yet, for millions, the simple need for eyeglasses goes unmet—holding them back from achieving their potential. RestoringVision continues to work with donors, global leaders, and policymakers to advocate for accessible vision care for everyone, everywhere. #GlobalImpact #StoriesofVision #RestoringVision #VisionEquality #GlobalHealth #RestoringVisionStories

📖 For centuries, eyeglasses have transformed the way people see the world. Likely first invented in Italy in the late 13th century, monks and scholars used them to aid their studies. 🪵 Over time, the construction of eyeglasses evolved—from frames made of wood, bone, and gold to today’s lightweight, more efficient designs. 🔭 Our scientific understanding of optics grew during the Renaissance, advanced by intellectuals like Galileo Galilei and Leonardo da Vinci. 👁️ Da Vinci explored the mechanics of human vision, sketching early concepts of contact lenses. 🔭 Galileo improved optical lenses, developing a telescope that allowed him to observe the stars, inspiring advancements in lens-making. 👓 In the 18th century, Benjamin Franklin, who had both presbyopia and myopia, invented bifocals, allowing people to see both near and far with a single pair of lenses. ⌛Over 700 years later, eyeglasses remain one of the most effective and accessible solutions for vision correction. Yet, millions worldwide still lack access to this life-changing tool. At RestoringVision, we believe that access to eyeglasses is not a luxury—it's a fundamental right. Everyone deserves the opportunity to see the world clearly and live without the limitations caused by poor eyesight. #VisionForAll #Eyeglasses #RestoringVision

👓 There’s a simple solution to presbyopia, and it’s been around for over 700 years—a pair of eyeglasses. 🌍 90% of those affected by presbyopia live in low- and middle-income countries, where vision care is limited. ⚠️ Without proper eyeglasses, people are being driven deeper into poverty as their blurred vision inhibits their ability to work, causing them to lose their jobs and livelihoods. Providing reading glasses to a person with presbyopia restores their sight immediately and improves their quality of life. #Presbyopia #GlobalHealth #VisionCare #Eyeglasses #ClearVision
