@loomdoop Just depends what happens. We don’t generate much revenue from the transfer tax (<1% of the budget). If this boosts gross receipts and sales tax revenues thru increased population, it would be a net tax increase. The budget was screwed no matter what

@nathansnewman Taxes on luxury housing would result in less luxury housing which would result in less taxes and also cause rich luxury home buyers to buy older, non-luxury homes and displace more lower income people. Just the wrong instincts on this, sorry.

I appreciate that the left is at least (sometimes) honest about its agenda. They don’t think it’s that we don’t have enough houses; it’s that the wrong people have them. The gap between “redistribute what we have” agenda and the “but there’s not enough to redistribute” agenda.

My kids' school is not the sporty school. But, their high school recently added a powerlifting club, and a bunch of nerd boys joined. So now there's a bunch of high academically achieving boys who are extremely jacked.
