BREAKING: MAGA world erupts in rage as American hero Harriet Tubman is finally awarded the rank of One-Star Brigadier General in the Maryland National Guard. And it gets so much better... "Today we celebrate one of the greatest authors of the American story," said Maryland's Democratic Governor Wes Moore at a Veterans Day ceremony. Dozens of veterans and generals attended the event at the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad State Park. The historic bestowing of rank comes roughly 160 years after Harriet Tubman bravely led Union troops as they raided Combahee Ferry in South Carolina — resulting in the freeing of over 700 slaves. In addition to being an abolitionist, Tubman served in the Union Army as a nurse and later as a spy and scout. Not surprisingly, Trump supporters are flooding social media with their rage, insisting that Tubman doesn't deserve her new rank. As usual, the motivation is pure unadulterated racism. At a time when America's future seems uncertain and racist forces are once again ascendent in our political landscape, it's important that we remember heroes like Tubman. Her belief in a better future should inspire us to fight for the same. What's everyone reading this weekend?

This dog's name was Gunner. My uncle brought him back from WW2. He was raised and slept under my uncle's anti- aircraft gun. The gun crew shared their rations to feed him. By the time he was 18 months old, my uncle said he would stand up and look at the sky. If he laid back down they knew all was ok. If he growled and put his hackles up they got at the ready. He knew the sound of the German aircraft and my uncle said he never got it wrong. He said Gunner was better than any early warning system. I'm probably the only one left in the family that knows that story now, so I thought I'd tell it before it's lost forever, like many stories must be from that time. Thanks for reading it.
