There is a quiet internal turmoil that comes with being a sports mom to a child who relentlessly pursues excellence in all she does. A delicate balance of supporting her in her pursuit while still reminding her that the journey is just as important as the destination. In May, we sat down and set reasonable summer goals that she wanted to accomplish. And I've watched her balance a summer class, soccer training, SAT prep, track training, weight lifting, big sister supervisory obligations, and household chores. I've seen her privately make so many sacrifices. From missing family time, no summer vacations, sitting out of things with friends, she has given up so much teenage normalcy to chase her dreams this summer. Some of her goals got scratched off the list, and some will just be those that are in a constant state of revision. Some doors closed and some windows opened elsewhere. Today, we closed the chapter of one of the most successful soccer years she's ever had, pulling in a ranking of top eight team in their league in the nation. Tomorrow, training shifts to focus on her next big adventure. Words cannot express how proud I am of this girl! (throw back to Baby Ryann's first soccer tournament with the boys) @RyRobb08
